Rumor is John Henry met with the agent for Suarez today. Hopefully they can get a deal done with Ajax cause Liverpool could use him.

That's almost certainly not true (Hendry doesn't appear to have been in Europe/England/Liverpool to have had such meeting). That said, LFC is definitely in on Suarez. Hopefully they get it done.

Yeah the rumor has been shot down, hopefully they can get him in and I would like a natural winger as well so.

Anyone hear a recent update about the friendly in Cairo on February 9th? Last I saw they were still planning on making the trip.

The State Dept is supposed to be calling Soccer House at some point next week. I doubt they play the match in Cairo. It either gets moved or postponed.

Fulham absolutely hammered Spurs today. 4-0 was actually a generous scoreline for Tottenham. It could easily have been 8-0.

I watched the first 15 minutes, saw the two penalties and the red card and figured I'd seen all I needed to.

Liverpool pays 35 million pounds for Andy Carroll.

Move over, Wayne Rooney, we have a new most overrated player in the world. Good god that's [expletive].

I thought they rejected the offer, was it accepted?

They rejected 25, then 30 and then Liverpool met their 35 million asking price. Nothing has been signed, but there's an agreement.

I assume it means they are selling Torres if they get Carroll. So they are most likely going to get about 10 mil and Carroll for Torres. I would have much rather they spent the Torres money on Aguero, Llorente, or Rossi.

Sky Sports is saying that Newcastle rejected the 35 million bid. I dont know who looks more foolish Liverpool for offering it, or Newcastle for rejecting it. Now I am just hoping Liverpool dont up their offer to 40

Sky is now reporting Liverpool have confirmed the bid was accepted. First it was rejected, then Carroll put in an official transfer request and they approved it. Torres to Chelsea is all but official at 50 some million pounds. I doubt they are getting Anelka back since they bought Suarez and Carroll.

I clearly think Carroll is overpriced, but if you look at it from the perspective of Liverpool just swapped a constantly injured player for two of the best young strikers in the world, you've got to count it as a huge win for Henry and co.

Plus it looks like Charlie Adams is on his way as well. I would say as of now with Carroll, Suarez, and Adams, and minus Torres they are better off now then they were before the transfer window started.

I think there is little doubt Carroll is overpriced -- I just don't think Liverpool had any choice. Torres forced their hand and they absolutely had to replace him. You always pay a premium (1) for English players; (2) in January (especially up against the deadline); and (3) when the other team knows you need to buy. Not replacing Torres would have been devastating on many levels. I'd also venture to guess they're better off now than before (especially with sulking Torres). The rebuilding job is not complete, though.

Torres:

"It is the dream for every top class footballer to play at a top class club and now I can do that."

Ouch. Some redfaced Scoucers are gonna be pissed. I think this is very risky deal for Chelsea. Torres has to completely find his form for him to be worth this fee.

Has Chelsea even addressed the backline at all?

They bought David Luiz from Benfica today.

Liverpool fans ought to be ecstatic at their day today. Gaining basically Carrol (even at that ripoff price) and Suarez for a guy who hasn't been in form for over a year?

That's just smart business.

EJ went to Preston on loan, which is a good move for him. I still feel like he could play a role for us, even just as depth. Boss is also trialing at a Norwegian club, and assuming Traffic doesn't eff up this move, our best CB prospect should finally be getting some burn.

Also, Freddy Adu was loaned to a 2nd division Turkish side. That's basically like playing USL.
