Mods: if this can be combined with the Harvey thread, go ahead and do so

In my never ending quest to search the Cubs farm system for an answer to the OF delima in Wrigley, I can across his AAA #'s:

Michael Restovich OF 102 373 61 107 24 3 21 66 200 44 106 1 1 .368 .536 .287 .904 1

I pose this question, Is Micheal a AAAA player? he seems to be having a DECENT year in Iowa..y hasnt he gotten a call-up?

He's also hitting .313/.417/.563 against lefties this season in 80 ABs. It's just a shame that Jim and Dusty are on a production-free diet this season.

Ok, I'm gonna say it. Restovich is a 4A player. There has been a lot of clamoring for him to be on the ML team, basically, because he's a better option that Mabry, Nevin, and Bynum. And you can argue Pagan, but I wouldn't even give him that edge.

Restovich is 27. Has career numbers of .254, .333, .408 in the majors. To me, expecting him to do anything in the majors is akin to expecting Julio Zuleta and Rosey Brown to be everyday starters a few years back.

I think he's a 4A player, in terms of him being an everyday corner outfielder. But he's a major league caliber bench player and there is no excuse for him to not be on the big club all year. The Cubs foolishly want all of their bench players to play 6 different positions and worry about gloves on the bench instead of production.

I posted earlier in the year that Restovich's Major League career numbers against LHPs were around .280/.340/.440, i.e., a perfect platoon partner for Jones.

he may be. but so are bynum (and that's being kind) and pagan. and, at this point in their careers, neifi and mabry are no better than AAA roster filler either.

i don't think anyone's expecting restovich to be an everyday player though.

If Restovich is called up you know Len Kasper will beat the

"Festovich for the Restovich" line into the ground.

you just provided the most compelling reason I've heard for his promotion.

I'm still waiting for him to call Theriot "The Riot"

Actually, I believe he has. I recall him saying "The Riot" twice within a minute the last time Theriot was up.

Yup-the other day when Theriot was in the starting lineup he called him The Riot when they were announcing the starting lineups.

Great, now if he'd only call Pierre Slappy the circle would be complete.

I'm guessing that he can't say "slap nasty pimp" on the air though, so it'd be more of an oval than anything else. It would be pretty funny though if he started calling Juan "4-3".
