Thanks Cubbies75. Aram has done a better job of hitting HRs when the outcome of the game is in doubt than I thought. He just may be worth the money I'm sure he'll demand.

In any event, he's a keeper, but will Hendry realize that?

His curve doesn't have that snap on it and his fastball isn't consistent in the 92-94 range that it used to be. He's done for.[/quote]

I hope you mean he's done for the year. When you couple not being consistantly healthy, with having the whole bench in the starting lineup behind, equals less confidence. I think the problem with Prior right now, is confidence, he doesn't have that swagger he had in 2003. I don't think he's done, I think his confidence needs to rebuilt.

let's see...he is hitting 88 on the gun, he used to 93-94 for the whole game. this has been happening for a while. his pitch counts are astronomical because he has no command...that's been going on since last june. i haven't done the research yet but i know his era is over 5.00 since last june...this is a large sample size and he shows absolutely no signs of anything changing! much like i said with wood last offfseason..we need to find someone to take him at cost for anything...a dozen balls.and indy player...assistant trainer..anything- cut our losses and use the 5-6 mil to add to the savings from wood/maddux and sign at least 2 starters!

i like prior..i hope he does great BUT if we want to win next year we can not sit back and hope he becomes prior again. if we wait to find out if he won't , no one will ever take him unless we pay his salary, which does us no good.

Actually, trading him for an assitant trainer is a great idea. I can't remember the last time this organization properly diagnosed somebody.

I like Theirot because he can do damage on the basepaths

Damage to our offense, maybe. His 2003-2005 stolen base percentage was 66%, less than the break even point of 70%-75%.

I'd much rather have Theriot out there than Tony Womack or Neifi Perez, but to badmouth Walker and praise Theriot in the same breath is ridiculous and hurts your credibility.

Hey fellas? Fellas? Without looking I'm going to call BS on the "Todd Walker's slugging percentage is .388" claim. I'm pretty sure it's a bit higher than that. Anyone want to check and link to it? We may just all be too quick to apologize in the face of slander.

No, that's what it is this year.

SLG with the Cubs (362 PAs): 390

SLG with the Padres (21 PAs): 350

That sounds right. Sluggin for the cubs this year is .390 for the Padres is .350. Walker wasn't that great for us this year power wise.

Whatever. Theirot is a better athlete and overall ball player than Walker and Cedeno. and It goes beyond the stats.

Theirot has good range at 2B, good speed which is helpful for staying out of DB's etc. and gets on base, takes pitches, works counts...etc...

Good. We need more athletes and team speed.

i like todd walker. however he does seem to get sent packing quite a bit from his many teams despite solid numbers...

also you can not forget the likes of macias, hollandsworth, simon, blanco,

restovich,grimm, womack,mabry,bynum, miller,gerrult....

Why Blanco? He's a backup catcher. A good defensive one at that. What were you looking for?

What is wrong with giving someone like Restovich a shot? The Cubs have never really given him that shot, but he was a cheap pick up and worthy of a look, imo.

there is nothing wrong with any of them but when they are constantly the biggest moves made and we pay many an unslightly amount of money it is poor...and whether you like the guy or not when you cruise the scrap heap signing guys that is dumpster diving...

just a quick example while we were dumpster diving for neifi, and womack..and paying an absurd amount for nefster, the sox scooped a rather useful alex cintron for next to nothing..

many teams seem to like to fill these spots with young players..perhaps theriot could have played more of nefster and womack's innings at a fraction of the cost...

we gave away corey patterson...so that we could grab bynum? why? if corey's done then let him be a bench player...obviously he wasn't done which adds to the frustration. it would have been one thing if we traded for some value but we got a class A player...

speaking of team speed, our much needed leadoff hitter just got thrown out trying to steal 2nd base, down 2, in the 8th inning, with Theriot up 2-1 in the count, and Ramirez on deck.

Brilliant. Let's extend this man.

Yeah, this is a situation where I don't thing that he can be defended. Looking at the replay, he looks like he was safe, but that doesn't matter in this spot..the decision was just absolutely terrible.

Pee-Air needs all the SB's he can get to cash in on that 5 year 50 million dollar deal.

But you like his speed and athleticism, right?

No. I'd rather have Doug Dascenzo in CF.
