HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......Dusty, you fool.

Jacque Jones and Neifi Perez have been even worse then their abysmal career numbers.

While I want no part of Neifi, Jones hasn't been horrible.

Stats:

AVG .288 | HR 18 | RBI 55 | OBP .321 | SLG .499

Sorry, but those numbers suck for a RFer in my opinion. 55rbis? Jeez that's terrible.

Those numbers for Jacque aren't actually that bad so far this year. He's 17th in OBP, 4th in slg, 10th in OPS among right fielders. His RBI totals aren't that terrible-14th right now, and 4 RBI's out of 9th. He has been an average to above average right fielder this season-the trick is if he can keep up these numbers or not.

Right. You can't really judge him until after the year is over.

Their starting pitchers have been much better. Anyone else notice that the number of games where the Cubs are behind 7-0 before the fifth inning has been declining?

it's those darn rookie pitchers that poor dusty has been complaining about. during the 11-4 run...

hill, marmol, mateo: 5-1

z, prior, rusch: 3-3

Wait? Dusty keeps telling me that you can't win with rookies?

The pitching staff pitching like it was supposed to (albeit with different names), and Ramirez, Barrett and Murton are why we are playing better.

If the pitching staff was even 75% as good as we expected it to be, we'd be fighting for a Wild Card spot right now, I have no doubts.

Who says we aren't fighting for a WC spot! We are only 9.5 games out! We are right in the thick of it.

I wish people would stop saying that, even if in jest. I really do not want this team to rope me back in....

He's 10th in the NL in OBP.

You really should qualify that better - he's 10th in the NL in OBP among qualified CF's. If he were 10th in the NL, we'd be very happy with his .398 OBP. Unfortunatley for us, ol 43 is 74th in the NL in OBP. That's simply horrific for a lead-off hitter.

No he's 10th in the NL in OBP among qualified Leadoff hitters...

And how many are qualified? 10?

Yep! Or at least that's all espn.com lists on the batting spilts...

Baker is just oblivious to reality. I used to think he ignores it but now I just think he is just a stubburn man who refuses to learn anything new. What a horrible quality to have in a manager.

If the Cubs get within 5 games by September they will get my attention. Otherwise I will continue to have no playoff hopes for this team.

I told my dad that going into today's games, the Cubs were just 9.5 out of a playoff spot - solely to prove a point that the NL was horrible this year and not to say they might make the playoffs - and he said the Cubs "might as well be 95 games out." Thought it was funny.
