I have Duke in a keeper league. Does anyone know how good he should be next year?

Tough to say why he's been so bad this year, but his ERA, his K/9, and his BB/9 are all below his 10% PECOTA projection, which means he's been worse than the system imagined he would be.

I heard a lot of questions about the changes the new pitching coach was asking pitchers to make.

Unless Pittsburgh fires Tracy (fat chance), I'd drop Duke.

I notice that both Murton and Cedeno have hit much better over the last week or two. I saw that Cedeno moved his head to get a better view of the ball. Is that all Gene Clines and Gary Matthews?

Thanks for the help! It's much appreciated.

That's the second run Cedeno has cost us on the basepaths this week. I can understand giving up some on defense right now-he's still learning the position, but giving up the 3rd out at 3rd?

Oh well-4 runs, 40 pitches for Duke-an excellent start.

Cedeno making the case for finding a new 2b next year. :x

I'm pretty sure they are trying this out as a last effort with Cedeno..but if he doesn't improve by a pretty good bit by the end of the season, I think he will be gone.

Let's not throw Cedeno under the bus quite yet. Baserunning and defense are skills that can be taught by repetition. It's not they have to teach him how to run faster. I think the Cubs would be best served by keeping him and upgrading heavily in a starter, CF or RF. I'd take .275/.330/.420 from Ronny next year. It's not optimal but it's efficient for $350,000. He's still young and could improve more than that.

They mentioned earlier in the broadcast that since the Cubs have struggled against Duke, Clines is stressing patience with the Cub hitters.

He was out and yet there's absolutely no argument from the bench.

Really? Pat and Ron said that Dusty came out to argue-at least that's what I thought I heard.
