Is it me or has Guzman's control been better as the season has gone on? As good as Veal, Gallagher, Marshall, Marmol, and Mateo have looked at times, if Guzman ever gets completely healthy, he's easily a notch above them all. I won't get my hopes up til I see it though.

Veal's night is over: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K.

With runners at the corners and one out, the D-Cubs get a FC on a potential DP ball. The ball was thrown away on the relay. The runner scored easily from third and the guy who hit the ball advanced to second on the error. Hunton comes in and gets the K.

Daytona is up 9-1 in the middle of the 7th.

His W/9 rate was 3.81 in July, the highest of the season, but it's hard to get any sense of how he's progressed since he's made two trips to the majors (one to sit in the bullpen) and hasn't really gotten into any rhythm yet as a starter. That's still the case with the Cubs idiotically deciding to pull Angel from his last start after an inning so he could theoretically be ready to go to Chicago if need be.

2 more Ks for Guzman has he cruises through a 1-2-3 6th.

Am I seeing things on milb.com or is Dylan Johnston pitching for Peoria?

Santo is pitching (and not well) . He is now 16 which is the number Dylan wore. Apparently MILB isnt smart enought to figure out that when a guy goes on the DL you might actually give his number to another player!!!

I agree, a healthy Guzman is better than the other young guys in the system.

Angel has thrown 84 pitches through those 6 innings, so we'll see how long he goes after only throwing an inning last time out.

Resto-bomb. #20 on the season. His OPS is still above .900 and he's still in AAA. It's a shame he's not smaller and faster...

And Micah crushes an 0-2 pitch for his 11th. The I-Cubs go back-to-back!

Guzman's final line: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 4-11 GO-FO, 91-60, PO

More balls in the air tonight, but a very nice start after his short one last time out.

On the power of those 2 HRs, Iowa leads it 3-0 in the 8th.

West Tenn is down 6-4 in the 7th. Dope is 2 for 3 with a double, walk and a strikeout. Shaver gave up all 6 runs in 5.1.

Daytona leads it 11-1 in the 8th.

Peoria down to their last outs in the 9th, down 4-2. Santo gave up the 4 runs in relief of Wade Miller.

Resto-bomb #21 is a 3-run blast to make it 6-0 I-Cubs. Augie (walk) and Pie (double) scored on the HR. Edited by Jon

Well, he is healthy. In fact, he is completely healthy. I don't exactly know what the difference is. But the issue is being healthy for a long enough period of time to where he can find his control on a consistent basis. Now its just a matter of time and his ability to perform at a high level.

I believe we are starting to see him do that.

Very good, Jon. That brought an audible chuckle...

For the second straight game, WT and Carolina are in extras, thanks to 1 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th.

In the 8th: With no outs, Scott Moore singled, Jake Fox doubled and Brandon Sing singled in Moore. But the Jaxx left Fox and Sing on.

In the 9th: Gary Cates singled, Richard Lewis was hit by a pitch, Brian Dopirak walked and then the red-hot Jake Fox got a 2-RBI double to tie the game.

We're in the bottom of the 10th, all knotted up at 7.

Fox is 4 for 5 with 3 doubles. Dopirak is still 2 for 3 and now has 2 walks.

In Daytona, apparently Veal's nickname is "The Real Deal." As in, Donnie "The Real Deal" Veal.

I personally like THE DON! much more.

WEAK.

"The Real Deal" lacks a touch...a certain mobster touch.
