Geez, I remember why I soured on this place several months back. So much negativity.

Izturis is 26. Before his injury had a .330 OBP. And before that, was a rookie. You are looking at his #'s when he was 21-22 yrs old? I for one am willing to give the guy a chance. I would like to see him the rest of the year and see what #'s he puts up for the cubs next year. I'll bet he'll get his OBP closer to .330 more then most of you think.

And what part of Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Micheal Barret, and Carlos lee can't make up for a stellar defensive SS with a .330 OBP?

The part that'll have Juan Pierre, Cedeno/Perez, and possibly Jacque Jones (if he returns to his career line) dragging everyone else down.

1. Carlos Lee is going to be a FA so we don't know where he is going to go.

2. ARam might opt out of his contract and could go elsewhere next year. Not saying he will, and I don't think he will, but it could happen.

3. A .330 OBP isn't that great and, as has been stated numerous times, the main issue with Izturis is that he is going to be paid over $4 mil next year. Not a good way to spend your money.

and all the negative people were proven to be so wrong by the complete success that is the 2006 season.

Hendry has $10 million dollars used up between Neifi, Rusch and Izturis next season. I'd say he's limiting his chances to land both a stud OF and a frount line SP (both of which are needed if the Cubs even want to think about competing in 2007).

Not to mention they'll need Ramirez to stay, Lee to revert to his 2005 form, Barret to repeat his 2006 career year, an above average (career wise) year from Jones, and a healthy Prior. Don't worry, I'm sure all of those things will happen at once.
