Yes, I know Lee is gone for the year (most likely), but who the hell cares? Where is this team going, except behind the Pirates, who may have improved their team today. Nevin has value in the right situation.

Oh wait, I've got it - we stopped making good deals after Nomar got here. I forgot.

One would hope. Its highly unlikely anyone thinks enough of him to block the trade.

On second thought, he will only be owed a measly hundred-thousand by the time a waiver deal goes through.

It's early, other teams aren't ready to deal yet, it takes two to tango.

Actually, Phil Nevin sucks and nobody thought he could help them besides Jim Hendry.

He's not great, but he can still be a good platoon partner or right=handed pop off the bench. There has to be a mkt for that amongst contenders, no?

Who cares? The Cubs are dead to me.

Hendry is your Fredo.

Then, who's Michael?

I would be surprised if Nevin wasn't involved in a deal this month. It shouldn't be difficult to pass him through waivers to make a deal.

Of course we won't get anything of value from him.

Pedro? Me? You? Any self-respecting Cubs fan?

I'm not a violent person, but I would punch Hendry in his wattle if I saw him right now.

so? why post if you feel that way. I think the Cubs got what they could for Walker, there was NO line waiting to get him for over a year. I like the Maddux deal too.

Because having an opinion is my right. Just like you have yours, however misguided it may be.

I think Hendry views Nevin as the 1st basemen of this team until Lee returns from injury or until the season is over. With Walker gone, and Nevin moved, that would leave Mabry to start everyday.

Here's a crazy idea

Dopirak in September!

If his bat continues to come around it aint a bad idea at all.

I could see Boston sending a low, low level player to the Cubs for Nevin in August if Nixon doesn't come back. Big Papi has been playing a little bit more at 1st base of late and they might be able to use his bat at DH or 1st.

What an outrageous statement. Rabble rabble rabble! I like cheesecake! Where are my pants? You kids don't know squat. Where are my pants? Rabble rabble rabble.

Yeah, we get to waste another $4.5 million next year on Izturis.

$4.5 for a GG defensive SS entering his prime is hardly a 'waste'. Don't forget that it's not just the Cubs, the Dodgers are the one that signed this contract and believed he would be worth it. You want a waste? Check out Adrian Beltre. I'm sick of the never ending sarcastic comments on this board. Izturis hasn't donned the blue pinstripes for a single AB and you're writing him off. How would you feel if you got hired for a new office job and the entire building assumed you were a moron before your first day?

Not going to happen. He's still not fully recovered from his broken leg and has yet to get his power numbers back on track. Also, oddly enough, his numbers so far indicate that his plate discipline hasn't improved very much from last year's debacle in Daytona.

Ha! I get that every first day of the school year.

It's a waste when middle infield defense isn't the team's weakness. It's a waste when the biggest problem with the team is lack of offense, and they start counting on people with insanely bad offensive numbers. Just because the Dodgers felt that he was worth nearly 10M over 3 years does not make it a good contract. Somebody was foolish enough to give Neifi 2.5M. And what the hell does Beltre have to do with it? Izturis is being written off because of his history of inept offense. If I sucked at what I did and people at my new job knew it, they would have every right in the world to not be happy about bringing me on when other, better options may have been available.

You're more than welcome to stop visiting this board if the comments are too much to take. Quite frankly, I could do without the whining.
