It was a joke. The poster who I was talking about has stated several times how White Sox fans being "obnoxious" makes him want to "punch them in the face." I was attempting to cleverly point out how hypocritical that is when the fans in question he described as really only cheering and yelling for their team, and typing in all caps is the computer equivalent of screaming your head off. Unclench.

anyone listen to Homer Hawk tonight? endless complaining about a walk to Salmon in the seventh. the thing is, NONE of the pitches he was complaining about were anywhere near the strikezone. the next inning the Angels' pitcher did get one high strike, but that was two batters after the same pitcher was robbed on a 3-2 call to Alomar.

then the post game chat and news conference was all about bad ball strike calls.

leave it to the fans to complain about the umpires (and Sox fans do that aplenty, no matter where the pitch is). Ozzie did refuse to complain, the broadcasters and rest of the media should do the same. there was nothing outrageous about the strikezone tonight.

Escobar was on his game tonight. Locating his fastball in and out of the zone, his splitter was enough to keep the hitters guessing. Good game all around for the Halos.

I never used to believe in "fairweather fans". I now do.

No big deal, IMO. Of course the home announcer is a homer. They're hired and paid by the club. Now, that doesn't mean the club has to hire announcers as bad as Hawk & DJ, and they are awful. They let Rooney get away, and he is good. In fact, he and Farmer were an excellent team. Singleton..., not so much.

BTW, I agree with whoever said that this thread reminds me of the White Sox fans that I can't stand - rooting against the Cubs at every available opportunity just because.

Seriously, what the hell happened to this team?

Too many runs. Not enough smallball. More bunts, less home runs. Make something happen. Blech blah blah.

No really their pitching is awful and the AL is pretty good.

Listening to a little of the Score on the way in to work this morning, heard complaints of not playing someone with high splits vs. RHP's, staying too long with Buehrle, Cintron' not that good and shouldn't be playing as much as he has, etc. sound familiar? Perhaps, Guillen' not a great Manager after all, maybe the fact that their staff had an unbelievable year last year was the primary reason the won the WS and not Guillen' managing.

I never used to believe in "fairweather fans". I now do.

Ignorant statement. I have always been a Angels fan. I even write in LAA fan forums.

It's sort of easy to talk smack when you have a variety of teams to choose from.

did you listen to or see it? I have no problem with announcers being homers, but if you are going to complain about ball/strike calls from the booth, the pitches really should be close.

I think Brenly and Len do a good job with this sort of thing. they're not afraid to call out the umps when they miss a call, but do it in an understated way, and will call it either way. they don't use the remaining two and half innings to complain that the ump cost them the game, when the ump had nothing to do with it.

what I couldn't stand is when Stone would refuse to acknowledge bad calls against the Cubs and take the attitude of 'that's what they deserve.'

Totally different series if the AL Cy winner was pitching in that series.

Didn't you have an Oakland A's Barry Zito avatar before the John Lackey one?
