It's pretty easy to get there from my office (in midtown), the issue is getting home (hoboken). But I normally don't let that stop me. I wouldn't have helped much. I'd say a couple things but I don't heckle. Usually it's just sit back, drink beers, eat peanuts and hot dogs, drink more beers, and BS with whomever I'm there with.

With the exception of Albert Belle when I was in college, I had never heckeled a player until the 2004 Chicago Cubs. You should try it, its cathartic

This is stupid. Just because Dempster is the closer doesn't mean he shouldn't ever be removed from a game. The only reason I am slightly put off about it is that Dusty never, not once, did this to LaTroy, and he was much worse as a closer than Dempster.

Maybe LaTroy is part of the reason that Dusty has changed his attitude toward removing the closer.

Then again, Big Z was the pitcher of record. Maybe Dusty figured he'd better take Dempster out, or Big Z might kill him in the clubhouse if he blew the save.

I honestly didnt either until i read LoDuca was 0-10 against him.

I guess I read this article to show some discontent with Dusty. Is it possible the players are getting sick of him and his moves? Is he loosing the clubhouse?

He lost it in 2004 and really hasn't gotten it back.

I agree entirely with your first statement, but not with your second opinion. First off, what most folks fail to remember is that it was Dempster's stupid walks in the 9th inning of that fateful Mets game that preceded the Diaz HR off of Hawkins in 2004.

Second, Hawkins was actually very good in 2004 in a role he was not signed for. He was not "much worse" than Dempster the entire time he was filling the role of closer. Dempster had a great month of September last year, but has been very shaky at times. He's either very good or very bad, and when he's bad, he loses games. His blown saves this year would have had in bad graces with more Cub fans this year if the team were over .500.

I, too, was watching the end of this recent game and I would have been PO'd if Dusty had let Dempster continue the way things were going.
