He'll be facing Jeff Weaver as per Cubs.com.

This could be an entertaining game to watch as it could be a high scoring affair - especially if the wind is blowing out.

EDIT: If there is another thread on this feel free to lock this one.

it's too bad interleague play is done. I'd love to see Ponson face Weaver in a battle of unwanted has-beens

I'll predict it right now that the Cards win this game 7-3.

I'm not sure what I'd be more pissed about, Hill having a bad game, or the Cubs scoring only 3 runs off that bum Weaver.

You just know Weaver will pitch a good game vs. us and you know Hill might get a little be bit nervous facing the Cards @ Wrigley on a ESPN game.

Any guesses as to who will start the Saturday game? The site says to be announced.

Should be Maddux, after the normal 4 rest days.

That's what I had originally thought, but the Cubs site has him slated for Sunday.

Oh, you mean my Bachelor party? See you there? Bleachers.

Yep, I'll be in the bleachers that day. I hope it's not too hot out there.

Cubs site lists Maddux as the probable for Saturday, TBA for Friday and Sunday.

It does, doesn't it? I completely read that wrong. Must've been wishful thinking. Well, at least I'll have more opportunities to catch a home run ball.

Think Maddux still has a lot of pop in his bat?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that until Hill develops a third pitch, he's not going to do anything as a starter in the majors.

Prove me wrong, Rich, prove me wrong!

please

He's got three pitches. Fastball, Curve, and Change. But only one of those pitches are above average and that's his Curve. He's got Lefty Specialist written all over him, but you never know...

I wouldn't call his changeup "developed." Or maybe it is and its just awful.

I thought I read somewhere that he's been using the Change since he got sent down earlier in the year. Maybe not?

Hopefully. I honestly am not qualified to comment on the progress or development of minor leaguers. I was kind of being facetious. I actually like Hill a lot.

I think Hill, as a starter in the majors, stinks on ice. That said, I hope he proves me wrong. I'll happily eat a full buffet of crow. And even if he tanked as a starter again after a series of starts (I agree the guy needs at least half a dozen in a row again, if not more), I still think he's got huge potential in the bullpen.

Please prove me wrong, Rich Hill. Please.

I'm with you on this...I'm praying he comes through and really becomes a top notch starter, but my confidence factor is 0. It's hard to have confidence in a pitcher that has no confidence in himself.

he threw several changes in the aaa all star game. his fb also was 90-92 as opposed to the 87-90 that he seemed to be at the last time he was with the cubs. if he can get his curve over i think he'll do fine.

Prior, Hill and Marmol for the three games I'll be at next week then (assuming Marmol is ok). Not exactly what I was hoping for...

I'd be very happy to see 2 of those guys, since they could be in our future. But I understand if you wanted to see Zambrano or something. :D
