In Fox's pregame show, Rosenthal mentioned that the White Sox are now suitors for Soriano as well.

it's not hitting the white sox should be concerned with...

Yeah, plus where would they put him??

LF. Pods in CF.

And then where does Brian Anderson go??

AAA

That's real smart

They're going to mess up a young kid just to have another masher in the lineup.

He's hitting .205/.289/.327. He's pretty messed up as it is. The Sox are trying to win the World Series, if they can upgrade the CF spot they have to do it. If Andreson can't handle a demotion with those numbers he can't cut it anyway.

Offense isn't there issue. It's pitching

I don't disagree, but you improve where you can when you can. If they can replace Anderson with a capable hitter they would be crazy not to do it just because it would "mess him up." He's as messed up as he can be now.

Fine. So they improve on offense, but they don't address the pitching. That's real smart. If they get Soriano, they ought to change the ginder ball rule about power. Never underestimate the power of power: It has the power to destroy what the grinder ball was built on.

Surprising, you seem to be unaware of the fact that the Sox have all of their starters locked down and with their huge contracts they are difficult to move. Acquiring a starter would be idiotic.

JR has plenty of money from the Bulls dynasty in the 90's and he'll just pump into the White Sox, b/c he's a cheapskate when it comes to giving Bulls players their dough.

I'd put Soriano in LF and have Pods take a seat.

As mentioned a few posts earlier, their starters are all in pretty big deals. They essentially have to hope that a couple of their guys get it together, since they really can't make a move for starting pitching. There's nothing wrong with making the best offense even better.

Really?

Are you sure about that?

Either way, they are still doing what's important: Improving their team. If they can't get pitching, they are improving their offense.

That's as ignorant a comment as I have read in some time.

What evidence do you have to support that conclusory and naked statement? Is this the same Reinsdorf who gave Michael $35 million for one year's work in 97'-98'? The same guy who gave Jay Williams a huge buyout worth millions after he nearly killed himself on a motorcycle after his rookie year? The guy who just gave Wallace tens of millions of dollars?

Tim Kurkijan on ESPN reporting Sox close to acquiring Soriano in exchange for McCarthy. Also close to gettiong McDougal from KC for a single pitching prospect.

He lowballed Pippen the entire time. He lowballed Horace Grant, which is why he left when he did. He said he now regrets having given Jordan 33M to play the 97-98 season. He ordered the breakup, b/c he didn't want to pay Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, Longley, Buchelor, etc. He left Krause fire Jackson and he hasn't said he regrets it, the way he has about letting Hawk fire LaRussa. He never did anything when Krause said this to Jackson regarding a deal past 97-98: "I don't care if you go 82-and-0, you're f---ing gone." The only reason Pippen didn't leave despite being lowballed the entire time is b/c he had a great friendship w/ Jordan. We will wait and see what he does w/ Chapu, Deng, and Gordon next summer when they are due for extensions, and Captain Kirk this summer.

Soriano for McCarthy would decimate their bullpen. He's their long guy and one of the only reliable relievers they have. Tribune was suggesting that the Sox will get Soriano and play the triangle defense game so the Twins and Tigers don't get him.

Who cares what their bullpen looks like when they will post 10-12 runs a night. After getting burned by the continual promises of stud young pitchers, I think McCarthy for Soriano is a steal. There aren't many out there who have 40-40 potential.

i think getting a hitter of soriano's caliber would more than offset the loss of their long man.
