...that Michael Barrett is hitting .323/.392/.517??

He's quietly having a great year (even the IsoD is halfway decent at .069)...

Too bad nobody else is helping him out.

Hope he can put up those numbers next year, IF there's actually a team around him.

Only if he could improve on his defense then he would be one of the top catchers in baseball.

He already is one of the top catchers in baseball. If he improved his defense he would arguably BE the top catcher.

Piazza was arguably the top catcher in baseball and his defense was not much better than Barrett's is, imo.

I don't think his defense is so bad that it severely discredits or takes away from his offense.

Piazza's defense has never been as good as Barrett's is right now.

I'd trade him to the right team for the right package of players.

Too bad Jake Fox wasn't a year or two closer.

if you think barrett is weak defensively...

And he didn't make the All-Star team.

Finished behind Yadier Molina in the voting.

Yadier is at .244/.292/.343/.635

What's funny about that is I had an argument with a Cards fan before the season began. I said Molina would bat near 250; he all but called me stupid and said it would be close to 300 if not better and there was no way it would be lower than 275. I'm feeling confident that my prediction will be closer to the truth.

I assume you meant that you said he'd bat near 250.

Yes. Oops! I'll correct it.

I wouldn't call the guy I had this discussion with a friend.
