Don't have a link, just the word from mutual friends that Theriot got called up last night. I imagine our boy Mark Prior prolly went to the DL.

im sure baker has a nice comfy spot on the bench picked out for him where he can watch the games and enjoy his stay in the majors.

I'm sure he'll get his weekly at-bat. Too bad, because it seems he has the unfortunate knack of getting on base and scoring runs. He'll never play for the Cubs doing that.

Maybe the Cubs really are going to go with a four-man rotation. Supposedly Prior will be DL'd so he could be replacing him

I would really hope that's not the case.

1) zambrano has been abused as much as any pitcher in baseball since 2004 and was just hit in the throwing elbow with a bat.

2) marshall is going to soon blow by his previous career high in innings, and this is the first time he's pitched above AA.

3) marmol had never pitched above AA until this year and will also likely blow by his previous career high in innings.

4) the cubs are 20 some games under .500 and hopelessly out of the race.

a four man rotation sounds like a great idea.

I could be way off here; but do I detect a little bit of sarcasm in that written word?

Cubs management has made some of the all-time horrendous decisions, but a four-man rotation right now may top that list.

I'm guessing that if Prior goes on the DL, Hill is called up to start in his place until his return. However, due to the off day Monday we won't need our 5th starter until the 22rd of July. Hill may stay down in the minors to get one more start. Interestingly, Hill's "start" the other night puts him on track to start on the 17th and the 22nd...

Hopefully, Theroit gets a chance to prove he's worth more than Neifi in the next week.

I'd rather get a look-see at Hill for the rest of the season than Marmol or Marshall. They've both done pretty well, looked very good at times, but both skipped AAA. Hill is done at AAA; he's done what he can do. Bring him up and give him 3 months to get his bearings and see if he's a ML starter or not.

We don't need him to spend the next 3 months proving he really is that dominant at AAA. As Neyer said in his chat yesterday, Hill has something like 43 ML innings, let's not give up on him yet.

Why isn't Fotenot getting this chance? Fotentot and Theriot are the same age and Fotentot has been a better hitter at virtually every level.

I can see that sentiment. My guess is they like the versatility Theriot brings. Hendry likes guys who can catch the ball.

Per ESPN1000, Prior was the one put on the DL, Theriot up.

Does Rusch have incriminating pictures of Hendry or something? Don't get me wrong, I'd be excited to watch Theriot play with the big club, if that was, in fact, what they had in mind. But we all know he's going to rot on the bench, and Rusch will be plugged into this spot.

Theriot is a Cub product. Fontenot has more pop in his bat.

Theriot has better plate discipline and is more of a leadoff type hitter. Decent speed.

Is Glendon taking his spot, or are they waiting until they need a pitcher before they call Hill up?

i can't see why they'd just call up theriot until they need a starter. especially after rusch's last outing, i definitely can't see them not giving him another start. this organization baffles me with its stupidity on a daily basis.

Is Fontenot on the 40 man roster? I thought they took him off last fall.

I would like to see how Prior would deal with the real world... you only have so many sick/personal days to use in a calendar year. My guess, Prior would use every single one and more than likely would be the guy at the office that never puts a full week of work in.

Boss: "Hello"

Prior: "Sir, I am unable to work today, I have the flu"

Boss: "Ok" take care, see ya tomorrow?

Prior: "No, I think I will take the the next 6 months to recoupe"

As a Cub fan, I long for the day we won't have to worry about Wood and Prior coming back... those two sisters should star in "Groundhogs Day 2" as their autobiography.

According to the Cubs.com article Prior should be back in a couple of days. so calling up Hill or Guzman would just pull them off every 5th day.
