I don't smoke pot, so Pantera gets my vote.

Believe me, there are plenty of pot smoking Pantera fans as well. Maybe not as many as the Grateful Dead, but there are still plenty.

Can I just vote for Tom Petty? I don't want either of these advancing.

I'll also give a vote for Tom Petty. I am still pretty surprised that he didn't make the list. I wanna be one to complain about the seeds, but I thought Petty was more respected around the music world to make it into a list of 64.

Can't you see im easily I'm bothered by persistence,

One step from lashing out at you,

You wanted to get under my skin,

And call yourself friend,

I've got more friends like you,

What do I do?

Is there no standing by?

What it takes,

Who I am,

Where I've been,

ALONE!

You can't be something you're not,

Be yourself, by yourself,

Stay away from me,

A lesson learned in life,

Known from the dawn of time.....

RE!

SPECT!

WALK!

What did you say?!

RE!

SPECT!

WALK!

ARE YOU TALKIN' TO ME?!

ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?!

Run your mouth when I'm not around,

It's easy to achieve,

You try to make friends, not sympathize

Can you hear the violins playin' your song,

Those secrets tell me your every word,

Is there no standing by?

What it takes,

Who I am,

Where I've been,

ALONE!

You can't be something you're not,

Be yourself, by yourself,

Stay away from me,

A lesson learned in life,

Known from the dawn of time.....

Pantera was awesome. Cowboys from Hell totally rocked and Vulger was the best Metal album released that year. Dimebag was an unbelievable guitarist. He could thrash with the best, crunch out great solos and compose amazing slow ballad types of songs. He was the complete package for a guitarit. Phil Anselmo was as equally versatile as a singer. The lyrics were solid angst.

These guys were truly great.

Does anybody remember when Vinnie Paul the drummer put a big ass dent in the Stanley Cup? That awesome. Guys from the North Stars brought the cup to a party and Vinnie tried throwing it off the roof of the house into the pool but it missed and hit the edge.

Pantera was one of the most influential metal bands of all time, IMO. I wish the heavy metal trend followed Pantera more than Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, and all those other rap/metal bands that were so popular.

RIP DIME!! Watch it go!

Hell, I consider myself a classic rock aficianado and I can only name one Dead song, "Touch of Grey"

You know them. You just don't know they're by the Dead. I'd be stunned if you've never heard Truckin'.

Based on all of your prior posts in this whole set of threads, this really surprises me. You've never heard Ripple, Uncle John's Band, Sugar Magnolia or Shakedown Street?

Based on your other musical tastes you've mentioned on this board, I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Skeletons From the Closet. Though, I really like some of their other stuff on Workingman's Dead, American Beauty, etc.
