ARam Sounds Off

According to Baseball Tonite, after the game, ARam said (paraphrasing), "Everyone always talks about us not scoring runs. Well, we aren't shutting anyone down, either."

Finger pointing, "mischaracterized" radio interviews--the second half is going to suck...worse.

I'm loving it. Just shows Dusty doesn't have control of his clubhouse. Tensions are running high. Hopefully there's a clubhouse brawl that someone in the media witnesses. I see Z using Rusch as one of those big red plastic wiffle bats and Neifi is the wiffle ball. Tee off Z, tee off.

Anything short of Lee and Z tearing limbs off of everyone in sight will leave me unsatisfied.

Just Niefi and Fat Glendon will do.

This reminds me of when Alou complained a bit about how the pitchers were getting all the attention in ... '04, I guess it was?

It's a weak free agent class. I don't like Aramis acting like the primadonna, either, but until that ARod trade happens, I'm concerned about losing him for zero-to-diddly-squat.

I can easily see Aramis using his escape clause. He's putting up better #'s than Adrain Beltre, and he's got a 5 year 65M deal.

and because of adrian beltre, he won't get near that kind of $.

What's the Cubs deal he's signed to now? I don't think he has to get close to Beltre to exceed his current contract.

Guys on this team who are allowed to say anything that could be interpreted as a finger-point at somebody else:

Derrek Lee (because he is the de facto captain and mainly because he would find a way to make it constructive)

That's it. That's the list.

Aramis is right, of course. But saying it in the press is a bad idea.

He signed a 4/42 in April 2005 so he should have about 2/24 left on it.

anyone on the team should be able to say whatever they want.

I think they should be able to speak their mind without retribution.

It makes things colorful.

Amazing how the phrase "The MacPhail Thought Police" has swept across Cubs message boards & blogs over the past few weeks.

usage example:

The MacPhail Thought Police beat Williamson into submission.

I hope more of the guys start speaking their mind. It's not like keeping them shut has helped anything.

I agree. I was glad when Lee did it, and am glad to see that Aramis did it. I was also glad when Barrett punched AJ. It is good to see some fire in this team, or else it is going to be an excruciatingly boring second half.

Uh. The MacPhail (F A I L) thought police. . . uh. . Are dumb? . . . like MacPhail is (F A I L). . . :)
