Dudes, we got em all just where we want em!!!! Lull them into a false sense of security and then pounce on them in the second half!!!

In all seriousness, I haven't been this disgusted with Cubs baseball since the pathetic teams of the 70's. I know if I had any link to the organization, I'd be embarassed to show my face in public.

At least there was a really good reason those teams sucked in the late 70's. The Wrigleys were just cheap. To suck this bad while spending a good chunk of change is mind boggling.

Before 2003 this was acceptable. W/ the White Sox winning it all last year, and the Cardinals and White Sox winning constantly this year, anything short of a World Series title is unacceptable.

Cardinals are 2-8 in their last 10 games

I don't care if the Sox and Cardinals were both 100-loss teams - this is still unacceptable. The Cubs goal shouldn't be "keep up with the Cards & Sox" - it should be "win the damn Series already."

After some very brief research, it looks like Seattle had the highest paid last place team ever, when they paid ovre $86 million last year for a 69-93 team, but they were just last in their division, not in their league.

2001 Texas Rangers went 72-90 spending 107 million for that season.

The Seattle record is worse but this Ranger team spent 21 million more for three more wins.

I'm thinking the one of the Mets' teams might take the cake.

We aren't winning 72 games, so we've got the Rangers beat, though our salary isn't quite the ARod-bloated 107mil.
