I have nothing to back this up, but Maddux and Walker both make sense as potential trade targets and a team like the Mets could use both guys. Maddux would be a mediocre option at the back end of the rotation while Walker would be a perfect compliment to Jose Reyes at the top of the order, and allow them the luxury of moving Lo Duca down in the batting order.

Suffice to say, I don't feel this Jose Valentin resurgence will continue on the Mets' end. This just seems like it would be a good fit for the Mets.

Who would the Cubs be looking to get back? Maybe a guy like Victor Diaz? I'm not really into the Mets' farm system, so maybe somebody would have a good idea of what the Cubs could possibly get back in return.

Walker would be a perfect fit for a team like the Met's it would be nice if we could get them to take a guy like Willamson to help bolster there Pen.

Willamson

Maddux

Walker

Should net a pretty nice package from the Mets.

Pelfrey's off the table since he signed on January 10th and can't be traded until one full year after he signed his contract.

Aside from Pelfrey and Humber (Recovering from Tommy John Disease), the Mets do not have a whole lot left in their farm system. C Jesus Flores is hitting well down in High A (.269/.335/.507 with 11 HRs in 227 ABs) but has defense questions and OF Ambiorix Concepcion did a nice job in High A (2.87 AVG/.343 OBP), but has horrible power (.387 SLG with 1 HR and 21 2Bs in 282 ABs). That's about it.

P Alay Soler might be attainable, but I question how sucessful of a starter he will become given more time. Lastings Milledge is untouchable unless they get a terrific deal.

Hey, you never know. Everyone thought Kazmir was untouchable and they pretty much gave him away.

Hey, you never know. Everyone thought Zazmir was untouchable and they pretty much gave him away.

Minaya's in charge now. I doubt we'll see a repeat.

Really? I could have sworn that Minaya made that trade. I guess I'm mistaken...

Jim Duquette made the deal. He's now with Baltimore.

Well does Baltimore have any good prospects we could trade for?

They have that Patterson kid in CF.

I hear he has potential. What would it take to get him? How 'bout that Nate Spears kid we have down in the minors?

i think the major problem with this idea is that maddux and walker and williamson aren't latin ballplayers, thus minaya is not interested

Excellent. ARam for David Wright is a sure thing then, eh?

I feel like we're getting ripped off there; ARam and Cedeno for Wright and Reyes seems more fair IMO, don't you agree?

why dont we send ARam, Maddux, Walker and Williamson for David Wright?

Because the Mets would never trade Wright. He's the franchise.

You got that right. I think if the Cubs offered Jones, Walker, Williamson and Maddux for Milledge and a B prospect it might work.

How about the Cubs send Walker to the Mets for Heilman?

That was rumored last year IIRC. What are Heilman's numbers this year? Might not be bad, and we do have plenty of 2B to replace Walker

4.39 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 41IP. He's having problems with his release point and he's been very inconsistent so far.

For Walker, a guy who is going to be gone after this season, I think that would be a major score. Even if does what he's doing now, he'd easily be our No. 2 starter if we put him in the rotation.

Agreed. Despite being a bit inconsistant, those stats arent bad at all. This also could possibly be our best option in return for Walker, unless we get a desparate fringe conteneder to throw a descent prospect at us at the deadline.
