Derrek Lee just got called up tonight.

Went 1-3 for the I-Cubs.

No idea on who got called down.

Tonight? I thought he was returning on Monday.

Cubs' brass probably figure that one extra game will be the difference in the Cubs getting back into the playoff race.

Serena posted this in Minor League Discussions but I thought I'd share it here as well:

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -Derrek Lee will be back with the Chicago Cubs for Sunday's game at Minnesota after just one minor league rehab appearance.

The move to activate Lee from the disabled list will come one day sooner than expected, as injuries to Tony Womack and Freddy Bynum during Saturday night's 3-0 loss to Minnesota forced Chicago's hand.

Info on Bynum's injury from Rotoworld:

Freddie Bynum was taken to the hospital on Saturday night after experiencing swelling in his right arm.

Bynum had an operation for a blood clot in his right shoulder in Sept. 2004, so there's going to be no fooling around here. If he needs to go on the DL, it means that Matt Murton will definitely hang around following Derrek Lee's return. Jun. 24 - 10:39 pm et

no way, dude.

There are but two options:

1) DLee is getting called up from AAA. He may need to watch how the major league game is played first.

2) Since Womack is being put on the DL, DLee will have to take his spot. That means hitting 2nd and playing 2nd.

These can be found on page 121 of the unwritten rules of baseball.

Yikes that sounds serious.

Also, Womack left the game with back spasms. Looks like Dusty might not have to move any of the 25 man roster when DLee and Williamson come back.

How come when ever someone posts a probable lineup even one that they would seriously like the Cubs to do, If it starts like this

Pierre CF

I just dont think it is a good lineup.

Most everybody would agree with you that it's not a good lineup but the word in bold is the key. It's a probable lineup and it's more than probable that Dusty is going to put Pierre in the leadoff spot.

I don't think he's trying to say that these lineups are improbable or that there isn't sound reasoning behind placing Pierre in the leadoff spot of these likely lineups.

He's just saying that Pierre sucks. I second this.

I agree with the fact that Pierre sucks. But again, it's a probable lineup, i.e. something likely to happen, not a 'what I would do if I was the manager' lineup. We all know that Dusty is going to put Pierre as the leadoff hitter so making a probable lineup without Pierre leading off isn't probable.

I'd rather send Marmol down; I think he's more in need of more development in the minors since he's still fairly new to pitching.

See bolded part.

Yeah basically I was just saying that Pierre sucks. I know he is going to bat lead-off as long as he is on the team, so it isnt even a probably lineup. I am just saying that no matter how smart Dusty becomes with the rest of the order having Pierre at the top just ruins it to begin with.
