I'm guessing this means Barrett's appeal is done and he will start serving today...

I would imagine, I kind of figured it would work out that way.

Wonder who's getting sent down today with Soto probably on his way up for the next 7-9 games.

Walker AND Nevin in the same lineup? Somebody must have told Dusty he could actually do that.

Actually, ESPN said that he tweaked his back (or groin?) in yesterday's game and that's why he's sitting.

He must of thought that since we are playing an AL team he could use a DH. However, when somebody told him he couldn't use a DH he didn't feel like changing his line up around and just continued where he left off. At least that is the only logical explanation I can think of.

question: Can he just start serving his suspension now, and still continue with the appeal? Or retroactive his start date to today if he doesn't play between now and his appeal?

I highly doubt it, but am just hoping we don't have to suffer even more Barrett less lineups.

Nah I don't think so. I refer to the Kerry Wood suspension in 2004 when the Cubs tried to pass off his time on the DL as him serving the suspension and the MLB picked up on that right away.

I hope we get absolutely embarrassed this weekend. Like a combined 40-1 type butt-kicking over the 3 games. I also hope the Pirates win 2 of 3 from the Twins so we're in dead last. Maybe then something will have to change.

Rooting against your team doesn't bring about any change. If change is going to happen, then it happens in the offseason, otherwise it would have happened already.

At this point in the season, what is important is that Cedeno, Murton, and the young pitchers get opportunities to develop at the big league level.

Good to see the kids in the field today, but I'm really shocked Rusch is starting the game. Just can't believe that one.

Yeah, definitely...

...hahahahahahaha, yeah right! They'll probably bring back Enrique Wilson and Marquis Grissom in a futile attempt to add a spark to the offense.

Stick him in CF and see if he's got anything left. That move actually wouldn't bother me right now.

With this team, they'd probably platoon him with Bynum in left and send Murton back down to the minors.

I hate seeing Tigers/Cubs because this should have been the 1984 World Series.

We would have gotten stomped though..

Thinking the same exact thing!!

Not sure we would have gotten stomped though.
