I don't understand how we could look so good for 7-10 days, batting over .300, then all of a sudden we revert back to our old ways. I was listening briefly tonight, and barrett just got a nice single to put runners on 1st and 3rd, and walker swings at the 1st pitch. Has this team ever heard of waiting for your pitch? This team is so damn frustrating.

Also, how many crappy pitchers are we going to make look like Cy Young. Bronson Arroyo should thank his lucky stars he faces the Cubs. He now has 8 wins, 3 against the Cubs. Arroyo, Zach Duke, Jason Schmidt, Cris Carpenter all kill the Cubs. At least Schmidt and Carpenter are good. But I'm just sick of the other rag arm pitchers who have a career day against us. Just like Samson yesterday. Don't we have scouting reports on these rookie pitchers?

One more rant. I am so sick of hearing from management about 2003, and we were 5 outs away from the World Series. Theres like 3 players left from that team. It's in the past, get over it. And this comparing us to Houston last year. Are you kidding me? This team would have to play like 30 games over .500 to get there.

Okay, I'm done. I feel better now. I just had to vent.

They are completely clueless against soft-tossers, and if it is a soft-tossing lefty, fuhhhgetuhboutit!

It's like watching the same bad movie over and over again, and hoping it will be better the next time you watch it... :(

You know how bad it gets. I actually turned off the the Cubs on the radio, and turned on the Sox. I'm not a Sox fan, but at least that team seems to have a clue and a manager who isn't afraid to say when one of his players stinks.

I did find it interesting that one of the Cub announcers mentioned that Dusty seemed more perturbed tonight than usual. I'm curious at what he would be perturbed about?

He couldn't be perturbed at the hitters. They are doing exactly what management wants. Be aggressive and swing away. He couldn't be upset with the umpire about balls and strikes, since it's rare that a pitch goes by that a Cub hitter doesn't like.

They didn't cause any errors. Other than Rusch being Rusch, there was nothing for Dusty to be disgruntled about. He's getting exactly what he should expect.

I hate the Sox. But, the management team over there has a clue. They may not exactly classify as "intelligent", but they assembled a very solid baseball team.

No they didn't. Their offense is power-heavy, and they don't have good relief pitching. That "Big 4" they shoved down everyone's throats last year is gone (Shingo, Marte, Hermanson, Vizciano), and that rotation they shoved down everyone's throats isn't so good either

Yet somehow... they have the second best record in baseball.

36-23. They are doing something right, let's give credit where it's due.

They do things right that don't show up in the boxscore that have an effect on the game as much as things that do show up.

Their offense is power-heavy

Not necessarily a jab at you, CubsBullsBears, but I remember when the Cubs' offense was power-heavy. They scored more runs then.

"Balance" is a ridiculous group-think concept.

Secure in these facts:

1. Rusch will get another start, and another, and another, etc.

2. Soft-tossing, junk-balling, 6+ ERA, 2+ WHIP LHPs will pitch shutout after shutout

3. Neifi will be lineup way too often

4. Pierre will never hit the ball (on the fly or line drive) out of infield more once every 10 games nor will he ever hit the cutoff man on the fly

5. The same moronic approach at the plate will persist

I've taken to watching the Tigers, they play good fundamental Baseball (pitchers actually cover 1B on GB to the right side), they're fun to watch. And, best of all, should they win the AL Central, they will have beaten the White Sox in the process.

I'll be attending the second game of the upcoming Astros series - possibly a Clemens start.

The second step in any list is so important, it needs to be thought of twice.
