Just kidding. But there is definitely a fair amount of injuries in this series over the past few years.

Today Pujols goes down. Granted he has been battling a back problem all season.

Nomar last season.

Bill Mueller a few seasons back.

These are just a few that come to mind. I know that the Cubs and Cardinals are in the same division and play each other enough during the season where as it is likely that injuries will occur, but you never really see this major injuries in the Cubs/Brewers or Cubs/Pirates series. Just a thought.

Also, all these injuries occurred in St. Louis.

not to mention darryl kile. eli marrero also got hurt. of course when you play 15-20 times a year, odds are that some injuries will occur. cubs-dodgers also seems to be a problem with wood last year and lee this year.

True....especially the Darry Kile death. I can't believe I forgot that.

The Cubs were expected to call up right-hander Carlos Marmol from Double-A West Tenn to take Williamson's spot. Marmol was 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 11 games, striking out 67 over 58 innings.

I may get to see Marmol's major league debut this week in Houston!

Aside from Vince Coleman being clobbered by a tarp, the Cardinals have had much better luck than the Cubs.

not true...

A few years ago Matheny cut his hand with a hunting knife right before the playoffs...that was a huge deal for the pitching staff.

The year we traded for Rolen he is in a collision and out of the playoffs.

Last year Sanders was one of our best post season hitters and went down hard and our best setup man, Al Reyes, went down the last day of the season.

These are just a few of our post season injuries not to mention the reguler season injuries that the Cardinals do go through. They just seem to get through them and keep winning so you do not hear about them as much. Injuries are only an excuse when you do not work through them and win some games.

Marrero screwed up his knee really good in a Cub-Card game when it was raining cats and dogs at Wrigley too.

I think I know what game you're talking about. It was on Mother's Day a coupe of years ago. That was the same game that J.D. Drew pulled a muscle and was put on the DL.

I remember Chip/Steve and Pat/Ron all agreeing that the game should have been called a lot earlier because of playing conditions.

Didn't he wreck his ankle along the same lines that Robin Ventura trashed his?

STL 11, Cubs 9 with I believe 7 homers in the game by the time they called it in the top of the 5th.

He tore ligaments in his ankle, missed 100 games, and ironically, his 1st game off the DL was that game that was being made-up.

I was talking about freak things like Prior taking a line drive off the elbow, Furcal ramming into Lee, etc.

Not things like cutting a hand on a hunting knife or tearing an elbow.

This doesn't have anything to do with the topic at hand, but I could watch your animated avatar all day, CubsBullsBears.
