Where is Zambrano on that play?

 

Ground ball towards 1st/2nd pitcher goes towards 1st. Once he saw that the play was contained he should have gone to third.

 

That ball was up the middle. He's got to know the shift is on and head to third since there's no way he would be going to first where that ball was hit.

Freel blooped a single to right field

Lopez struck out (called)

Griffey grounded to short, safe on a fielding error, E6 Freel took third, Griffey took second on a throwing error, E6

Dunn walked

True but pitchers are trained over and over again to slide to the right side when there's a grounder there.

True but pitchers are trained over and over again to slide to the right side when there's a grounder there.

I'm with Bob. Barrett should've been the one covering third. If necessary, Z would cover home.

I'm happy the Cub pitchers are even going towards first. Now you're asking them to go to third? Pitching and thinking are not something a lot of pitchers do well my friend.

Can't really blame Z for Ronny throwing the ball blindly. He's got to actually make sure there's somewhere in the area of 3rd base before he decides to let it go.

CUBS are 16-14 when they don't allow any runs is the first inning.... 4-17 when they do

CUBS are 10-4 when the opponent commits at least 2 errors.... 10-27 when they don't
