Some great news from down on the farm, seems that our crown jewel Felix Pie is hitting .267....

But look at the good news, Augie Ojeda threw a scoreless inning!

It's his first go-round in AAA as a 21 year old CF and he's hitting .267/.340/.435. Not much reason for alarm in my opinion.

One week ago his average .283. All it takes is a solid week and he's at .280/.355/.450.

As far as him needing two more years, I don't see much reason to say that at this point. Unless he falls apart this year, I don't see much reason to have him play two full years at

Absolutely. At 21, he's way too old for AAA. He should be a 4-time All-Star at this point.

.267/.340/.435 with 5 HRs, 9 2Bs, and 4 3Bs, 4 SBs, and 6 CS in 191 ABs, to be exact. That K/BB of 44/18 could use some more work, but it's actually an improvement over the past two years. He also seems to need some more coaching on what to do on the basepaths (but not the same kind Corey got).

Yeesh, he's quite young for AAA (21) and it's barely two months into the season. Don't throw the guy under the bus yet.

oh, I meant Augie of course . . . I don't have a problem with 44/18 - he may draw 50+ walks this year at a high level. That's not bad at all. 130ish Ks is a lot and probably the big reason for the low BA - but as you point out, his obp and slp and pretty good for a 21 year old. Plus he is progressing, which is what really matters at this point.

Exactly.

My big fear is that the Cubs call him up this summer and let Dusty and his band of merry morons get their hands on him. They've already done a number on Murton...who knows how bad it would get with Pie?

Hopefully we can leave Pie down there at least till mid-august. I'm not that worried his numbers aren't earth shattering but he's playing as well as expected.

they may not earth-shattering, but they are very good and probably better than I expected. Pie is showing signs of having more than just tools . . . anyone that tells him to be more aggressive should be sacked.

I fully admit I opened this thread expecting to read that Pie was flying to Chicago to kick Pierre in the balls and take over in CF.

Oh well.

good thing he's not hitting .234/.269/.301, THAT would be horrible.

:(

(that would be Juan Pierre's avg/obp/slg)

Actually, I think he's just really awful on the basepaths. He's never had a decent success rate.

He's walking a lot more recently, which is a very positive sign if ya ask me.

Yeah, I do like the 70+ over the average. Now just bring up Joshua to the big club.

Don't worry, he's not going to be brought up. He's starting to walk and has taken a few called third strikes recently. That should buy him an additional month.

No, we need more relievers, and this one can play 2B!
