Bynum's ops vs. righties coming into today was .680 in 32 abs, and will go up w/ the homer. Murton was @ .600. Heck Bynum even laid down a sac bunt.

Will Baker install a platoon?

Does it even matter?

yes.

Why?

murton's development

I thought Murton was killing the team, no?

i'm not a huge fan, but other's are. hence the question.

Not single-handedly. Ronny's helping.

I think we should trade D Lee for Todd Pratt and install Niefi at first, with a new 5 year 75 million contract. What the hell difference would it make?

I loved Hudson's quote in the MLB.com Braves wrapup on Bynum's homer today. He said something like, "He's a good kid, but I almost passed out when he hit that homer" Bynum was in Oakland's organization when Hudson was there, so he knows him. It's always nice to have opposing pitchers have so little respect for your players that they will "pass out" when they do something positive. That makes 16 home runs in more than 2500 professional ABs. By all means, let's get him in a corner outfield spot immediately!!! Ans by all means, lets hope he puts up a .275 .292 .350 line for a month so we can sign him to a 2 year extension!

Forget the Murton/Bynum platoon, I'd rather see the Bynum Pierre platoon.

I was just thinking the other day of how best to describe JP, and I came up with this:

He is our no-power, can't get on base, mediocre fielding, noodle-armed centerfielder who is good at stealing bases.

Freddie Bynum, when he's played OF, hasn't been very good, but is fast, and can get to some balls. All in all, he's not horrible out there. He's got speed, he can swipe some bases. His average and OBP are close to JPs, except he's got almost .200 SLG points on Juan (not that I think he'll sustain that, but he's also likely to keep it well over Juans .268).

I could overlook Juans lady-like slugging if he were getting on base. I'm not advocating getting Bynum regular playing time. But, if he's going to play his way into earning a platoon with someone, it should be with JP, not Murton.

We need to have some patience with guys like cedeno and murton...you dont just get accustomed to the majors by snapping ur fingers. These guys need to be playing everyday so that they can learn to develop and learn from their mistakes. Especially with the team doing this bad anyways theres no point in benching the young guys.
