Wow, I feel like crying at times. This has been very destructive on me. I nearly lost a TV remote with the Neifi bunt fiasco. The only way my interest can be revived is if we get some of them kids up.

I don't see how the temporary triple crown can be avoided with Barrett's suspension.

Ummm Go DJAXX!

This is about as pathetic a CUBS offense as I've seen in 50 years..........

The stats above prove the value of speed. Do you see how high we are in triples and steals? Don't mind that caught stealing stat, either.

Remember when people were complaining that this team hit too many HRs?

Whoops.

The problem wasn't that the Cubs hit too many home runs; it was that the Cubs hit too many solo home runs. Better OBP means those solo home runs suddenly turn into two and three run home runs. I know other people, not necessarily on this board, talked about the Cubs hitting too many home runs. The problem boils down to the emphasis, or lack thereof, on OBP within the organization.

Whoops.

I found it hilarious when the Cubs actively tried to reduce their HR total by dumping Alou and Sosa and bringing in Burnitz and Holly/Dubois to replace them, and still were near the top of the majors in homers last year.

Clearly, their efforts to reduce their homer total worked this time...

The Cubs problem wasn't that they hit too many HR's it was that all their homeruns were solo HRs, unfortunately they still haven't found anyone to get on base and right now aren't really even hitting any homeruns. I still don't understand why Dusty insists on batting Neifi and Hairston 2nd when they never get on base instead of Cedeno or Murton. Getting guys on in front of Barrett and Walker and Ramirez will only help get them better pitches. Neifi and Hairston can't get on base at all.

I'd love to have those HRs back; problem is it would be nice to combine that with guys who know how to get on base also. The Cards seem to have figured this out; too bad we can't.

Jim Hendry would also like to remind you that we are last in hitting with runners in scoring position as well. This is were we really need to improve.
