This won't make my good friend Badger happy. The word is that Woody could miss his Sunday start. Very sore. Took longer than normal to warm up last night. Glendon or J.K.Ryu, who would have to be called up, could make the start.

On the radio last night Pat and Ron at one point mentioned that Wood's fastball was topping out at about 90.

The hits just keep on comin'.

Doesn't make me too happy either. He's my favorite Cub and I ain't gonna too happy when he's a Yankee, Met or Ranger next year.

Cause I next to guarantee you he won't be a Cub next year.

He's damaged goods. He won't fool anybody with a 91mph heater.

Well supposedly he could have missed last night's start, but he pitched anyway.

Source?

My only problem with these threads is that EVERYONE jumps to the conclusion that ISNT starting (like the thread regarding yesterday's game) and in the processes look like idiots.

Why not wait to see if he starts or not to estabilish whether or not Kerry is a wimp? ANyway, who cares. This team is awful Wood or no Wood.

Considering how little Wood has pitched over the last year, it's clear he has no endurance right now. He needs to get back into pitching shape.

"Right now, [sunday's starter] is to be determined," Baker said. "We're going to see how he feels after two outings. He was a little stiff [Tuesday]. We'll see if he's going to feel good enough to do it on Sunday or if he needs to skip a turn."

This is going to be a rough month to get healthy against, too. We play nothing but tough ass teams, and he won't fool them like he (almost) did the Nationals and Marlins. He got away from those 2 games with *only* 7 runs, but that will be a good day if he pitches against the Reds, Cards, Sox, Astros or Tigers.

Jesus christ. Can we WAIT for him to return to normal healthy form. He's had 2 minor league starts and 2 major league starts. Can we allow that before we deem his career to be ended? He hasn't pitched a whole lot, he's had surgery, yet his career is over and he's damaged goods? He's had 4 game experiences and one rookie league experience since last August.

Sounds like the same thing they were saying about his start yesterday. Once again it was Baker and Rothschild saying one thing, and Woody coming in being "bristled" about the rumors saying everyone is sore after starts and he's going to be pitching.

Right. Because we don't know what happens next. Are you in denial? Do you not see a patern here? If we have a patern repeat itself 5 times, isn't that a pretty good indication that it will repeat again?

As I noted in one of the other threads, I don't see what the big deal would be if they did move him back a day ... which would keep him on the same schedule as he would be on if the Cubs had a bona fide 5th starter. Insisting on going to a 4-man once through the rotation because of the off-day just pushes the day of reckoning back two days to Tuesday.

Why not just plan on Wood starting on Monday ... I don't get it.

Relax. If you think he will come back to form after a few more starts you are mistaken. Why is it so hard to believe that after shoulder surgery a loss of velocity is possible? Look at Matt Morris, has he regained that velocity he lost? Damaged goods, bank on it.

I'm all for pushing him back. They should have done that this time when he wasn't able to do his normal throwing sessions. If he can't throw on his normal throwing day this time, then push him back. No big deal. Pitchers are given an extra day or two all the time.

Since he made his last start there's a 100% chance he'll make this next start.

It's called math, people.

unfortunately, there's also a 100% chance that he'll give up three runs in five innings.

If you know math so well, you understand that 10+ stints on the DL, missed starts, etc, is a far better predicate than 2 consecutive starts (against the worst teams in the NL).

you are trying to apply logic to an organization that defies logic and facts. this is about gut feel, luck, and tradition.
