didn't jacque regularly beat up on the sox with minnesota?

thought i heard in his 1/27 vs buehrle the 1 was a game winning hr.

Today was his 19th homer against CWS, most against any team.

Jones is terrible in the field. He throws like an 8 year old girl and can't figure out that you need to tag up on a fly ball.

His home run today was a great play. Let's see some more before we shower him with "love". He is finally starting to get close to his average over the last couple of years.

And some want him to play centerfield next year....ah jeez....that would be a disaster.

But as others have stated, defense is grossly overrated in baseball. How many runs would a Vlad-arm on Jones save us over the course of a season?

his arm would be an improvement over Pierre and no worse than corey probably. if the cubs got a couple rakers in LF and RF, that might not be a terrible move.

at least the jones signing hasn't backfired like the pierre trade and the rusch & nef resignings.

if the cubs could deal off pie & a prospect or two for a big time hitter, i have no problem w/ jones in cf next year.

That makes two of us. The only thing is, we can just sign Lee and not even have to trade pie. Or trade Pie and Marshall for Cabrera and still sign Lee.

I think Lee will be too expensive for the Trib's blood and they'll turn to a toolsy player like Soriano, who's attitude may drop his price some.

I think Wood and Maddux coming off the books will make us the favorites to get Lee.

Would you offer 4/40 for him?

sure, but if lee keeps tearing it up this year, he'll get more than 4/40, which pushes him off the trib's short list.

with maddux and wood possibly gone, some of that money will need to go to another starter. the rotation's pretty thin now. it's z and marshall and ????????????????? w/out maddux. i think guzman can fill in next year, but after that who knows. i'm not counting on prior any longer.

against righties, the man has a .900 OPS.

I'll take that, it's the 11 games versus lefties that drag him down. All the blame lies on Hendry for not having sufficient outfield depth.
