The struggling Los Angeles Angels placed veteran infielder Edgardo Alfonzo on waivers Saturday for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release, and recalled right-hander Jason Bulger from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Alfonzo can play 2B.... so you know what that means.....

Alfonzo has had 50 at-bats this year. He has a .135 OBP and is slugging .120.

He had a .327 OBP and a .345 SLG last year.

PECOTA projects him as being worth 1.3 wins above a replacement player this year. Neifi is projected at 2.4 WARP.

If Alfonzo is the answer, I don't want to know the question.

Looking at those numbers, I'd say it's a safe bet Alfonzo will be a Cub very, very soon.

The question is: wasn't he the young Banks boy on Fresh Prince?

i never said he was the answer, just that he'd be one of our best hitters instantly, even with minimal improvement over his current average.

He appears to be done, but it wouldn't be [expletive] to sign him to a minor league deal and stuff him at Iowa, who knows, maybe something happens. If not you just let him go.

His current average is .100. What do you consider minimal improvement?

I'd rather have Alfonzo's "absolute psychological profile."
