Anyone who doesn't think that AJ running over Barrett was clean is really letting their fandom getting in the way of what they know about baseball.

That was as clean as any catcher being run over that I have ever seen.

Take your blinders off, watch it again, and tell me its clean.

I love how people expect a guy going full speed into home to gauge where exactly the ball is and what velocity it's coming in at.

Barrett was blocking the plate. That's all that needs to be said.

Clean play.

Maybe...but then AJ got up and started walking past Barrett when the dugout was the other way....AJ was trying to mix it up.

What I know is that I've wanted to see someone slug that bastard for a long time.

at least someone on the cubs shows some fire.

they needed this..

They needed Blanco starting every day?

so you advocate laying down like a dormat?

oh right, you're the one who wanted them to tank from day one.

So no Sox get ejected and 2 Cubs? Yeah, the Cubs started it, but there is no way Brian Anderson should stay in the game. Possibly Podsednik too.

AJ and Anderson I think are gone.

I dont think slapping the plate had anything to do with it. Barrett was on his ass when that happened. IT was AJ coming to the plate with the forearm to face. 3rd base angle shows that best. Behind the plate it looks clean but its not.

i think it wasn't what AJ did (running him over), but I think he said something to Barrett when they were face to face.

Exactly.

In the replays, Barrett is the first one to say anything. He needs to learn to shut his mouth and play. He tries, but the Cubs don't need guys to talk, they need guys to play ball.

Please. The ball was 10 feet away. Slide around him and touch the plate.

How did AJ know the ball was 10 feet away (which it wasn't)?

He can see that the ball wasn't there. And yes, the ball was about 10 feet away when he committed to train-wrecking Barrett and ended up hitting AJ about the same time as the collision.

Yeah, you're right and I was wrong. The Cubs are a legit World Series contender. Shame on me.

After the plate slap, he made a gesture to Barrett and then jawed at him even before he got up, but he had to have been aware of that.
