Bonds Gets Plunked

Russ Springer basically threw 5 balls inside on Bonds before beaning him.

 

I just saw the sequence again on SportsCenter and they just showed a view from the first base side of the plate and you could see a bunch of Houston fans jump up and start cheering when he got beaned. AWESOME.

I live in Northern California. I have to put up with more Bonds coverage then you could ever imagine. So don't anybody tell me that they get sick of hearing about Bonds just because they lead SC and BBTN with him. I get it in every newspaper and every sportstalk radio also.

Does the fact Russ SPringer's heater isn't capable of hurting anyone mitigate the crime any?

Pretty much every pitch Springer threw in that AB was aimed straight at Bonds, one way or another. He would have hit him earlier in the AB, but that pitch managed to somehow hit the knob of the bat.

I applaud Springer for his effort. Not really sure if it was intentional or he was just wild like usual, but he was definitely throwing inside to Barry. If Barry doesnt like it, i am sure he can arrange for more body armor and complain about getting pitched inside.

 

The Giants have already said they will retaliate tomorrow nite, so it should be fun in the umps pre-game meeting with both clubs. It is Matty Mo, pitching for the Giants tomorrow nite. So you know it is going to get dirty. See Also Vizquel-Mesa. Matty Mo was the plunker in that case.

I just watched that entire at bat. I LOVED IT!! He was deffinatly aiming to whap him. There should be some interesting replays for tommorow's game too. I can't wait to see who hits who. Haha. .

First: Does anybody actually care about Springer getting suspended or not?

 

Second: As much as I don't personally like with Bonds as a person, cause he is surly, and he is the textbook definition of both superego driven, and anxiety fill, but I was a little pissed about what Springer did. I don't understand why Springer would throw at Bonds (outside of maybe the Giants keeping him in....too long during a blowout, in which case...that's on Alou and not Bonds). Bonds has one homerun lifetime in 3 at bats lifetime against Springer, and BBTN is trying to sell me that Springer has a "long memory" about the homerun Bonds hit off him a few yrs ago? Not going to buy that theory. Bonds has hit homeruns off hundreds of different pitchers, so what is Springer's deal?

Barry apparently hit a HR off of him in 2001. So the next 3 times that he has faced him? Yep, plunk city. Guess dude knows how to carry a grudge.

 

I dont think he was in for the shenanigans tonight. He has left the team to be with his wife who is undergoing a medical procedure in Louisiana tomorrow.

 

But it was great. Hack a Shaq, baseball style. I say everyone just drill him as often as you can. Eventually the punk will get the idea and retire. The way he treated that Gulf veteran the other night was the very last straw for me. This gibroni needs to have some sense knocked into his thick skull.
