93 pitch complete game shutout.

it's not exaggeration to say that it is absolutely mind-boggling how this coaching staff still has jobs.

Isn't there a stronger word than mind-boggling?

Eh....there goes another four in a row. 11 losses out of our last 13. 13 out of the last 15.

It's time for the firesale to begin.

Lee, Wood, Prior, and Miller cannot fix this mess.

He'll probably trade the wrong guys....probably start with Walker.

I'd be all for trading Walker. He won't be back next year, anyway. We may as well get something for him.

The Mets, Pirates, Blue Jays, Rockies and Giants all have poor offensive numbers at 2nd. Possible trades?

I really don't want to hear anything from the organization about the injuries. This team looks terrible.

The Cubs offer excuses as if some of the responsibility for injuries doesn't fall on the organization.

Why is it that White Sox or Brewers don't tend to have the same injury problems that we do?

Injury excuse is getting lame for Cubs

Key players out of commission, but Cubs must adapt

No matter what you do in life, the next-best thing to a good result is a good excuse. Dusty Baker certainly has his share of those, but the injuries that have cost him Derrek Lee, Mark Prior and Kerry Wood don't add up to immunity.

Part of a manager's joba big part, as a matter of factis being able to cope with the difficult times of the season. The key is to be able to inspire, prepare, teach and, when necessary, to think out of the (batter's) box.

nothings going to happen, watch.

That is certainly the likelihood, but lets hope that JH does something to kcik these guys in the pants and make them understand that heads will roll and this nonsense will not be tolerated.

Sadly, I see a total blowout against the Cubs (something like 15-0). I'm serious, although I'd love some tasty crow to eat. Today's loss is probably the most devastating, the kind that frequently sends a team into a tailspin. The Cubs were already in the tailspin, and now are relying on a struggling rookie to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, it adds up to major ugliness as I see it.
This is one time I wish I were wrong, but sadly I was right on. I saw this one coming from a mile away.

That MUST not be true. This team has quit. Changes MUST be made, and they must be made during tomorrow's day off; the organization as it currently stands cannot remained unchanged before the next game. Firing Dusty before one more game is played is MANDATORY. If Hendry won't pull the trigger, then MacPhail must step in and do it himself.

I don't have a problem trading Walker. He's a FA at season's end, so if we're not contending, he should be traded...as should Maddux, Hairston, Pierre, Mabry, Blanco and anyone else not signed beyond this season.

i agree. Trading Walker makes sense because I doubt he'll be back after the season anyway. Not with the way Hendry tried and tried to get rid of him in the offseason.

I agree with you Vance - I just wish I had confidence that the Cubs would get good value in return. I have very little faith in the evaluation of young ballplayers by our staff.

I guess time will tell, but this sinking ship is taking on water quickly.

there were two things i meant by what i said:

1) dusty probably won't be fired

2) even if he is, not much will change unless the whole staff is let go(including rothschild which will not happen), and then it will take time for the team to recover.

basically, this season is done, and hendry has too big of an ego to realize the mistakes he's made and try to regroup completely.

it would be nice to hear jim talk to each of the players on the 25-man roster the way that first round draft pick said hendry did him.

Blow this team up already. I'm serious. I'm not opposed to it anymore as long as that means Hendry, Baker-boy and his coaching staff go with it. This is absolutely ridiculous and I don't expect Jim the pie-eating champion to do anything about it. Hendry lacks the cajones to fire Baker..bank on it!
