I figured it was my turn to start a "I hate Dusty Baker" thread. I know this will be merged with other existing threads, but I just took my turn in the rotation.

Andy "Jim, have you seen how many fire Dusty threads are on NSBB?"

Jim "No, Andy, those people are all fools and don't understand the value of speed, bunting, and defense."

Andy "I think you have no choice Jim - fire Dusty or I will have to fire you."

OPENING DAY IN CINCY:

Andy: Mr. President, thanks for coming to opening day and stopping in to talk to us.

W: No problem, Adam.

Andy: Its Andy, actually. Anyway, do you have any advice on how to publicly encourage my GM when things are going badly?

W: Two words: Katrina.

MAY 12

Beat reporter: Andy, as you stand here with Jim after another stunning defeat, do you have any regrets about his extension?

Andy: Of course not. (Turning to Hendry) In fact, you're doing a heckuva job, Jimmie.

Not all Baker's fault. But part of it is. And he's the manager of a MLB club. The name of the game is win or go home.

He hasn't won. So time to go home. It's really very simple.

The Tribune should be seriously thinking about eating Hendry's extension and firing him too, BTW.

That extension should never have been given in the first place. MacPhail, Hendry and Baker should all go, along with the entire staff save Speier, and the entire front office, scout system, and minor league development people.

Silver lining: everything I have heard is that the Trib loves Andy. Maybe Hendry's extension will be proof positive that Andy has flaws and the entire organization needs to go in a different direction.

I just don't think the corporate mentality will allow that. The team has made them a whole lot of money over Andy's tenure. They probably value that more that the struggles of the past 2 seasons.

True, but the Hendry extension was a bad business decision. It was utterly premature, and I think particularly non-baseball suits can see that.

How many times in 4 seasons has a bad business decision (in the form of a stupid contract) happened?

I think things would have to get really, really bad (like KC Royals bad) for the Trib do move against Andy.

At this rate it might just get KC bad. Our last 10 games: 1-9 KC: 5-5

It's funny how they blame injuries but what do they expect when relying upon injury prone players to perform? It's a broken record.
