Did anybody see the video of a guy in Florida (I think) throwing out the first pitch and throwing it somewhere in the direction of the 3rd base dugout? There were photographers in front and to the right and it went more right than them. It was just on PTI.

I'm neutral to Rothschild, and you can't blame him for the twin sisters (Wood/Prior) for getting hurt.

Wood and Prior are just flat out injury prone. Theres nothing Larry can do to change that. This is also his FIRST season with a good closer and a good bullpen.

I completely disagree that there is nothing they can do about it. It's pretty clear that misuse and overuse played some role in their injuries. Mechanics supposedly played another role. The pitching coach is very much responsible for those things. He's not 100% responsible, but he takes some blame.

Baker has the final say in "misuse." Not to mention Rothschild isn't going to screw with their mechanics without some kind of "ok" from upper management and Baker.

You really only bother to change mechanics when the issue is reoccuring, which had to happen with Wood.

Yeah it was in Florida and it was hilarious.

Does Baker make it to the ASB?

And should baseball ammend the "every team has to be represented at the ASGame" rule? Cause....outside of Dempster and Barrettt....there is not ONE player that deserves to go to the ASG.

Baker will finish the season because Hendry won't fire him. Why? Because then the heat will only be on Hendry and he knows that. Right now I think most fans despise Baker more and Hendry can be comfortable with that. Personally, I think, they both should go or they both should stay. To me, their both the same and it does no good to keep one. Ideally, they both should go.

Baker WON'T finish the season. One way or another....either Baker will get fired, or he will resign. I believe he will be fired, if this team continues to play this bad. But it safe to say....everybody---maybe excluding Speier---on the coaching staff will not be back in 2007.

If you think Baker will resign then you don't know Baker. According to him. he's no quitter. Also, remember there were several fans on here saying he would get fired last year. Again, Hendry won't fire him because then the heat will all fall on Hendry. Also, to fire Baker would then mean Hendry made a mistake and I don't see Hendry admitting to a mistake. Remember last August there was a full page article on him and he held himself accountable for the season to that point? Well, all he did was do many of the same stupid stuff this season as he did last season -- overpaying for mediocrity, and relying on Wood and Prior to be healthy. Signs Miller, who was already hurt, to be the main backup for Wood and Prior. Right..... (in Dr. Evil's voice)

Well at least (baring next inning) it looks like Bonds won't homer against us this series...I know I'm reaching for something positive.

Well, Novoa AND Williamson has pitch well in today's game. Now if the Cubs offense, would get some runs and ACTUALLY lead late in the game, it's good to know that the Cubs bullpen might actually have some depth.

Brenly just cracked me up. He said most of Hairston's hard hit balls go foul and this one goes fair. That was funny but true.

Baker has final say, but until I hear differently I can only assume Rothschild has agreed with the usage patterns.

A pitching coach does not go to the GM and ask for permission to work on mechanics. That's ridiculous. Pitching coaches are constantly monitoring and working with pitchers and their mechanics.

Since there's no offense to talk about, which type of out do you all find the most frustrating, the fly, grounder or strike out? Obviously there's more variation than that, but I'm too depressed to get into specifics. Anyway, watching this team has made me realize just how much I HATE the ground out. It just seems SO incredibly useless and impotent...just strike the hell out and don't get my hopes up.

Depends, but I think I hate the fly out. A fly is going to be out except for the most exteme circumstances. On the other hand, a lot of singles are just ground outs that didn't go to where the fielder was. Of course, the GIDP is the worst, I'd rather they hit it in the air when the situation calls for it.

The absolute worst is the first pitch out of the strike zone foul pop out.

Oh man, that last part is gospel. ESPECIALLY if there are guys on base and in scoring position. And the team is down by a run or it's tied. And the guy that pops it up is normally a sure bat. That's instant ulcer right there.

And with ground outs, when I say I hate those most, I mean the pathetic little dribblers that are barely more than a bun that give the infielders plenty of time to set up and throw. We've been seeing a TON of those lately...apparently when people were talking about how Pierre would "inspire" the other players with his hard work, they also meant that everyone would copy his weak ground outs, too.

Management has to have some say when you're changing mechanics and style of an All-Star caliber pitcher. Don't think that just the pitching coach can mess around with their mechanics. It's definitely a group effort sitting down and reviewing video/footage trying to pinpoint the flaw of delivery or arm angle.

I think Rothschild and Baker overused them in 2003, but being injured all during 2004 and 2005 falls squarly on the female twins (Wood/Prior).

Brenly is actually really funny when the team is sucking. He makes so many snide comments that often fly under the radar.
