I jumped after the thought of Dusty being fired, only to come back and haunt me as he pairs with Joe Morgan and Bill Walton as the most strenuous announcing trio to date. Pushed me off the ledge and there was no turning back.

You should join me over here in the "I hate the Cubs" section. It's wonderful. I now have more free time in the summer than I have ever had before because I no longer have to waste 3 hours of my day watching their pathetic displays. I got cold beer...

Oh god, please don't scare me like that.

I'm in. I'll bring my own beer as well. Can't have too much.

I'm 26 and I honestly think I'm going to die of old age without seeing the Cubs even MAKE it to a World Series.

Why should I think any differently? How many millions of people were positive and optimistic in the face of such overwhelming futility over the last near-century? Why should I be any more different or special than any of them?

This management of this team has set a course for failure year after year since the Tribune bought it, and nobody who can do anything about it seems to care. I resisted the call for some time now, but I'm officially leaping over to the "Tribune sell the Cubs NOW" bandwagon. Yeah, the new owner(s) could be worse just as much as they could be better...but I need to see some kind of change on that level for it to seem like the Cubs could reach the playoffs again, much less a WS.

On a side note, looking for pictures on Google Image Search under the words "Cubs suck" brings up a disturbing amount of gay porn.

Don't worry; I'm the special one, so they'll win it for me, and I'm only 4 years younger, so it should happen in your lifetime. No biggie.

Also, the Cubs suck. And I only think that they'll win in my lifetime because I'm completely delusional.

Screw that its only the first week of May. Ramirez will get on a tear soon. Wood will pitch well enough to make picking up his option a no doubter. Pierre will get better. Cedeno and Murton are still improving. Barett on his way to a career year. Bullpen is pretty strong considering how stretched its been. 3 upper echelon starting pitchers are gonna be joining are staff in the next month or so along with the return of Derek. This slump might get Dusty fired but it was also be the jump start this team needs. Baseball is a marathon is not a sprint. There a lot of race left here. But come end of June and were still tanking it I reserve the right to come back and edit this post.

Just Kidding

I still believe they can win a Wild Card and maybe overtake the Cards.

Sigh. I didn't watch last night. My surface excuse was that since I had to give an 8 a.m. final this morning, I would go to bed early. The truth was that I started getting drunk early, and I just sort of "forgot" about the game.

Oh well, there's lots of good baseball to watch thanks to Extra Innings. I am about to watch it all supersized. Going to go for the big screen purchase today.

Things could still turn around for the Cubs. If they show some life, that would make me feel better. But what bothers me is how the team feels; from their play lately it's as though a lot don't care.

No jumping here; just no watching.

Hello,

Well, after watching last night's game (Tues.) I just don't know what to say. There's so much wrong with that team that I don't even know where they really need to start. Top to bottom, it's a mess. All I know is that I am a die-hard Cubs fan, have been all my life. I look forward to April all offseason. I try to watch every game I can. We can pick apart management, the coaching staff and the players (and righfully so!), but the bottom line is that when you are a CUBS fan through and through, this is just a nightmare. It's hard to even think about. It's not like a regular "bad" team ... they are beyond that. They're falling apart, and I really hope something happens to turn this around because I don't get a good feeling. Eight in a row?????

Guess the only good thing is if they totally blow it, maybe I'll actually be able to get tickets to a game this year. I can go and cry in my Budweiser with 40,000 others like me!

If I'm dreaming PLEASE WAKE ME UP NOW!!!!!!!

Hey guys! I brought some baseballs so we can toss around up here!

Is this heaven?

No, it's Iowa.

Wait a sec... That would be hell.

Ahem.

Excepting the portion of Iowa you're in, of course.

Which portion is that? Because the portion I'm in isn't all that great.

New to the site, been kind of looking around the past couple days. Basically looking for a place to drown my sorrows and avoid work as much as possible.

Iowa City, baby! Well, working in Cedar Rapids (what a dump). Welcome to the site!

Thanks, appreciate it. And looks like I'm making the exact same commute as you, except slightly less far (live in North Liberty, work in CR).

Good thing there is, too...this team plays a LOT of day games.

Thanks, Dusty!
