Is this guy for real?

He is now 4-1 with a 3.65 for Texas???!!!

Please tell me this is smoke and mirrors.

It's smoke and mirrors.

Are you being serious?

I'll admit i don't know much about him and never saw him pitch.

However, the last time i had really good/close seats in Wrigley was 2004 and i saw Hill quite a bit and i remember my intialy impression from the first game was he only had that curve that one major league hitters realized he didn't have much else they would be able to sit back on it and kill it.

What kind of LP is Koronka? What does he throw?

No, he's just trying to keep from stabbing himself with a mechanical pencil.

In all seriousness, i saw Koronka once last year, and he got obliterated by the Marlins and looked terrible. Aditionally, he looked terrible on TV in a couple of other starts I watched. I have to think this is somewhat of a fluke.

Yeah, the "Sergio Mitre Experience" is coming back to reality lately too.

I can't imagine Koronka will keep this up in Texas of all places.

TX should see if they can flip him to the Mets while his value is peaking.

And the guy we got boasts a gaudy .200 OBP in 19 games so far this year

And had we not gotten said base clogger, we would likely have finalized the roster with the guy we called up yesterday. I just blew my own mind.

High-eighties to low-nineties fastball, not much movement, okay changeup, not much else, throws from the left-side. Pass.

Mitre on the other hand will be fine once he gets over the big inning meltdowns. And he will. He added 150 points to his ERA in recording his last out. He was down at 3.38 or so.

I saw Koronka in person and on tv and think he sucks, not just on the results but he didn't look like he had any out pitches at all. However, I also remember Joe Borowski coming up as a starter and getting killed a few times at the beginning of his career. He also looked like he had nothing, but he made something happen and had a good 2002 and great 2003. I wouldn't be surprised to see Koronka win 15 games this year and post an ERA in the low 4's, which imo, is worthy of being at least the fifth starter on any team in the major leagues....only for one year though.

There were only 23 starters in all of MLB who had those stats last year. Koronka would join the ranks of Jon Lieber, Tim Wakefield, David Wells, and Jake Westbrook.

I think that would be worth more than Freddie Bynum.

Don't forget that everybody was raving about Chris Shelton during the first two weeks of the year but he has cooled off even quicker then he heated up.

Since April 18, his last 20 games, he's hitting just .169 with 1 HR and 4 RBI's. People figured out his holes and I think the same thing will happen to Koronka. This could take longer because Koronka only pitches once every five days, but I think it's only a matter of time before he starts getting hit.
