He looked good....but it was against A ball players...he had 12k's over 5 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk and he plunked a guy....he was up in the low to mid 90's as far as velocity goes...so it was pretty good....i will post a couple pics tomorrow.....

Those man-breasts are coming in mighty nice.

Jokes of course. It's good to see him on the mound. Hope he doesn't rush himself back.

what the? He looks like he's falling over backward as he delivers the pitch?

Thanks for the update!

I don't think that's a pitch.

well duh! :D

My buddy was at the game and said Wood looked great. Easy motion, work fast, and pitch count was very low. Granted it's single A but not bad for his first start.

I don't know what it is but I've always been and always will be a Wood fan. He's just one of those pitchers on any giving day you might see something special.

I've always enjoyed watching him pitch. He seems like a good guy, too.

I'd be a little worried aobut the 70 pitches in 5 innings, though. I'd want him to be a little more efficient than that. But.....if the kids he's pitching against can't make contact, then there's not much he can do, really.

That is pretty effcient for a strike out pitcher. He'll never be a Greg Maddux where he just needs 80 pitches for 7 innings.

Right. He probably would have been more efficent if he were pitching at a higher level, also. The kids at Class A probably can't touch him........ so he's not going to get many "easy outs". Hopefully his stuff will be good enough at the higher levels so that he'll get alot of weak contact early in counts, and won't have to rely so heavily on strikeouts.

Wood has been my favorite Cub for quite awhile. I really hope he can make it back to where he was........ and stay there.

Yeah mine also. You can never question the man's desire. He truly bleeds Cubbie Blue and gives us 100 percent everytime he steps on the mound. Here's hoping he stays healthy enough this year. Because he's one person I always would pay to watch.

Wood Rehabs

It wasn't in the big leagues, but Cubs fans have to be excited to see Kerry Wood dominating, even if it was against Midwest League hitters.

The righthander made a rehab start yesterday against Lansing and was simply dazzling, as he fanned 12 over five innings while allowing only one hit and one walk.

"I feel great," Wood told the Peoria Journal-Star. "I feel like the work that I've put in through this rehab is showing for me. I feel good when I'm out there. I didn't get winded."

The 28-year-old's fastball touched 97 mph for Peoria and his first 10 outs were all by strikeout.

"I thought I made pretty good pitches today," Wood told the paper. "I was impressed most with the location--the fastball the first few innings, then the breaking stuff the third, fourth and fifth innings. You try to go out and make pitches, regardless of what level you're at."

Wearing his typical No. 34 (a jersey he borrowed from reliever Ed Campusano), Wood looked sharp, a week after making his first rehab start in extended spring training. He will make one more rehab start, most likely for Triple-A Iowa, before rejoining the Cubs.

The start came eight years and one day after his legendary 20-strikeout performance against the Houston Astros.

Found this in the Daily Dish on Baseball America.

makes you smile when you think back to how foolish he made some of those hitters look in game 1 of the NLDS with both his slider and curve.
