Too bad we didn't have a bunch of high leverage innings the last 2 games to use Dempster in.

Not that it would have mattered because we wouldn't score anyways, but seriously, why not let Dempster pitch to stay sharp and increase your chances of prolonging the game?

Bochy pitched Hoffman in the last two games, neither in a save situation. That's smart managing.

I hate the "save" stat. When it's important not to give up a run, the best pitcher in the bullpen should be the guy who gets the call, regardless of the inning. But guys like Baker and Torre won't use their "closers" unless there's a chance to get a save.

Is that what being a players' manager means?

I thought he had the 14th in mind, personally. :D

So Guzman is pitching tomorrow. Yay. Hopefully we can score more then one run. We will definitely need to.

With Guzman pitching hopefully we can score more than 5 runs. But we can't, that's why this is an easily predictable loss. Bet anyone stupid enough your whole life savings if possible. Loss. Guaranteed. Book it.

I predict 7 innings of shutout ball, 7 Ks, 2 BBs, and a no decision for Gooz.

Like the sig, kinda has a ytmnd feel to it. I wonder how many people HERE know what it means.

Angel pitches 9 shut out, hitless innings. The Cubs, however, strand 14 and don't score a run. Neifi trys to steal home with 0 outs and the bases loaded, but fails. In the 10th, Dusty tells Guzman to "get out there and blank em again". Guzman throws one pitch and his right arm falls off. He brings in Rusch because he is crafty, and the next batter homers.

I choose the worst teams to root for:

- Cubs

- IU basketball

- Northwestern Football

- Pacers ... dont get me started, its too soon.

- Colts

Does that mean that if I bet on the Cubs to lose, but do to some miraculous, changing-the-space-time-continuum event, the Cubs actually win, you'll reimburse me for my losses? :D

i think our recent stretch of not scoring shows that even with lights out pitching if you can't score you will not win.

Did you actually have to touch that hot stove to know you would burn your hand ?
