Pie or Coats should be brought up anyways, just to replace slappy Pierre. We still would need a big bat.

Wait, so you want the team to score even fewer runs than it already does? It's a wonderful idea to replace the guy leading the team in Runs scored.

how do you know there will be a dropoff? pierre has been horrible thus far, regardless of him leading the team in runs scored. that's just an indicator of how bad this offense really is.

It's also an indicator of where he bats in the line up.

One can slap as much make up on Pierre's performance as they want, but it still won't be pretty.

Just because Pierre is leading the team in runs scored doesn't mean he's been good. He's been pretty bad. He's hitting in the .270's with a .313 OBP. Not good from the leadoff spot. Pie or Coats could outproduce Pierre any day of the week.

That is pure and undefensible speculation. That was my point.

It irks me when people constantly assume a young kid from the minors came come up and immediately perform and outperform established players. More often than not they don't.

Pierre is here to stay. So is Jones. It's better to start rooting for them to get on pace than to constantly hound them and make unsubstanciated claims on career minor leaguers abilities at the big league level.

Am I missing something? Since when is Pie a career minor leaguer?

just replace the guy who has underperformed the most, ramirez.

the lack of patience here is entertaining.

doesn't matter what we do, just do something, we have been shut out 3 of the last 6 games, we are floundering, DO SOMETHING< DO SOMETHING, MR HENDRY< DO SOMETHING

You wanna do something then? replace Ramirez. He's doing worse than Pierre, Jones or anyone else who everyone else is blaming. Ramirez has only 10 RBI's, batting .203. That's [expletive] pathetic for a clean-up hitter. Fine if minor league players are better, replace Ramirez with Moore. see how that works. Wasn't everyone here calling for Aardsma to come up.....gee wonder what happend to him. He bombed. Are you even watching Pie....his batting average is dipping mightily. Of course you don't know, you don't watch the games. Pie strikesout more than Pierre, you happy with that?

Watch your language. Vulgar language is not permitted on this board in order to keep it family friendly. The fact that the word sensors were turned on and converted the word you typed into asterisks doesn't make it acceptable.

After reading certain things today, I would not be shocked if Dougy Mint from KC would be on our team by Sunday.

While he is not a stat dream by any realm of possibility, it makes too much sense for the Cubs and KC not to be talking about a deal. He would bridge the gap till Lee got back and would give us the bat off the bench that Mabry is not providing at the moment. Also provides some more veteran leadership.

But it still doesnt fix our problem at 3b.

the fact that the cubs probably really do think that doug mientkiewicz is a sensical answer despite putting up 240/322/407 line last year is rather disheartening

Yeah, just what the Cubs need more "veteran leadership" on a sinking ship known as the Chitantic. What is the USE of a "veteran leadership" on a team that blows (in Bostonian accent) chowder?

Yeah, I don't think veteran leadership should be on the radar at all at this point. The offense stinks. I'd take Delmon Young if we could and he provides the antithesis of veteren leadership.

There is some buzz about an imminent trade w/the Pirates Cubs send Hill and one of Coats/Hairston/Bynum for Craig Wilson. It isn't a sure thing but could happen as soon as tomorrow.

I promised him I wouldn't divulge. Let's just say a reliable source. I don't expect anyone to believe me as I mostly lurk here but we'll see if it happens and then you can know if my source is legit.

You don't have to give a name. Is it someone affiliated with the Cubs?

I've been pushing for a trade to get Wilson since Lee went down. Wilson fits perfectly for the Cubs (right-handed 1B, RF, power pinch hitter). Let's hope it's Hill and Bynum.

No, the Pirates.

I guess you can "replace" Hoops if it comes true.

Has anyone seen or heard anything from Hoops since January?
