The decision to send Guzman out for this inning is not a good one IMO.

Damn, I didn't even realize he was still out there. This is a horrible, horrible decision. The guy is coming off arm problems, and you are gonna throw him out there for a 6th inning when he's already above 90 pitches!?! It's not like he's even pitching that great.

yeah, but don't expect dusty to think about that.

Which is why he has no buisness being the manager of my team if I were Jim Hendry.

Well what choice do he have? The bullpen is spend as it is and our next day off is in two weeks.

Glendon Rusch? Roberto Novoa? Anyone other than leaving in ANGEL GUZMAN. A guy who has had a bad history of injuries in the past and who I would prefer to be a large part of our future.

You would really have Glendon Rusch come in to the game in that situation? Are you kidding me?

Come on guys, don't worry. We're 14-10 and our offense has scored 8 runs in the last 32 innings. Even if they get shutout today, they will be averaging 2 runs per game, woohoo. Edited by Dr. Cub

Dusty should have let Guzman finish the inning... Novoa has lost it after dropping the ball earlier.

In addition to the pitch count issue, Guzman leaves on a negative note. Dusty was so careful to get Marshall out of the game before anything too horrible could happen and with a low pitch count early in the season, but he lets Guzman go out there with 90+ pitches. It's frickin unreal.

Can somebody tell Jacque that he isn't a pitcher and he should throw the ball further than 60 feet in the air before it hits the ground?

I also hope that Dirty Sanchez gets hit by a bus.

Gee, you're making have hope in the Pirates for this season!

Um....NOOOOO. I'd prefer to not increase Guzman's chances of getting injured. He should have never started the inning.

Why not? That's his job. It's the 6th and the Cubs were already down 4. They haven't scored 4 in a game since last Friday. You don't waste roster spots with extra relievers unless you are going to use them.

Well said. It's impossible to prove that Dusty is to blame for Prior and Wood's injury problems, but Wood was #2 in pitcher abuse points in 2003 and Prior was #5. They might have gotten hurt anyway, but leaving starters in for too long too many times sure doesn't help.

Not whatsoever. You do know who Angel Guzman is? You do understand his history with arm injuries, correct?

Um, he only had 90 pitches and was pitching well.

He's a big boy, only a few months younger than Z... not like he's a 19-year old out there.
