None of those other guys saved their nephew from an alien though.

Yeah, oops is right.

The early results aren't all positive, but at the same time, there's still time for him to develop into an effective major league player.

Then again, that list is rather depressing, all things considered.

Ryan has disappointed, but he has the tools, and is YOUNG enough to get it going. Stop trying to have Ryan compete against other players of the same draft, because who knows...let's say the Cubs took say either Brandon Wood or Lastings Milledge and Harvey went somewhere else. Who to say the "alternate Cub pick" wouldn't struggle, and Harvey deemed the next can't-miss top prospect?

I still believe in the kid, and sometimes, it tooks longer for some players to developed then others.

Well that's not really all things considered unless we started counting 6, 7, 10, 12, 19, 20, 23, 29, 32. Nothing's a guarantee in the draft, I'm not gonna harp on Hendry for misfiring (which is incredibly premature) on one specific year.

I'll help you out.

In M. Night Shamylan's "Signs" Mel Gibson's character's brother used to play minor league baseball. He has the record for the longest home run ever hit, but all he ever did was just go up to the plate and swing as hard as he could so he never amounted to anything.

I have a hard time listening to Mike Shannon of the Cardinals but I have an ever harder time listening to Ron Santo. I try to listen to the Cub announcers but I wll always end up listen to the other teams announcers.

It's no fun when it needs to be explained. I should think of less obscure references.

 i though that you thought they looked alike, doh... now it makes sense.

p.s. I really wouldn't mind having Cordero in our BP.

He's always had tools and youth on his side. What he hasn't had is anything close to acceptible plate discipline, which will be his doom unless he learns it very soon.

This is why I hate drafting highschool kids, it just my opinion but I think there is much more risk involved. Luis Montenez anyone? Highschool pitchers, not such a bad idea usually, highschool possition players = high risk. At least that seems to be the case much of the time. When was the last time the Cubs drafted a possition player out of high school in the first round that went on to have a productive major league career. Alot of people disagree with me, but I feel a great swell of dissapointment every time the Cubs draft a highschool possition player high in the draft.

Drafting HS kids is indeed riskier than drafting college kids - but HS pitchers tend to be riskier than HS position players due to the increased injury threat. But generally speaking, HS prospects tend to have more potential than college prospects.
