Man, GT is just good at developing hitters with the right approach. I'm looking at their stats and a bunch of players on the team have as many or more BB's than K's. They've definately taught Murton well.

I agree with the comments on GT hitters. That school has produced some great hitters in the past few years.

Anyone seen Savery throw yet? I wouldn't touch him at 3, but he's one of the most interesting prospects in the college ranks (he's one of the few power starters this year).

Brackman

9 IP, 6 R (5 ER), 6 hits, 1 BB, 9 K's

Weiters was 1/4 last time I checked with a RBI single and no K's or BB's

Pretty sure Price pitches tonight at 6 or 7.

Oh, and with one out and runners at first and second and down 1 run, UIC had a double steal on which led to the second out of the 9th inning. Great coaching there.

Now that's a sexy line.

Come on David, get Boras to be your agent. Still might not drop you to us, but it could give a little hope.

this is from the drays beat writer a couple weeks ago

Who do you think the Rays will take with the first overall pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft? I have heard about the pitcher out of Vanderbilt as a possibility, David Price. But is there any chance we take a great position player, hopefully a second baseman? The team needs a lot of pitching help, but there is some depth waiting in the wings in the Minors. So, I think if there is a second baseman who is heads and shoulders above some of the other position players, we need to take him. Do you know of any?

The last word out of the Rays' scouting department is there isn't a clear No. 1 pick that jumps out at you. Obviously, this will be a developing story leading up to the draft. This could be one of those years where a decision is made at the last minute.

I can't fault Coach Dee for doing that, the odds of getting a hit to knock in the run or an error/HBP/BB/Balk to advance the runners was less than the odds of getting the runner to 3rd w/less than 2 outs to try knock him in w/out having to get a hit.

I just hope Weiters falls the three, but my fear is that Weiters and Price go one and two, leaving the Cubs to choose between Brackman, Savery, and Burgess.

Same here.

Beyond Price and Weiters, everybody has too much risk for me...

Is there a good chance at least one of them falls to us?

I think it's way too early to tell. A lot can happen between now and the draft.
