Why do the A's have an elephant for a mascot? I know they have had an elephant in the team insigna, but why? What does an elephant have to do with Athletics?

Elephant's have good memories so they always make A's.

I don't have a clue.

The nickname "A's" has long been used interchangeably with "Athletics," dating to the team's early days when headline writers manager John McGraw told reporters that Philadelphia manufacturer Benjamin Shibe, who owned the controlling interest in the new team, had a “white elephant on his hands," Mack defiantly adopted the white elephant as the team mascot, though over the years the elephant has appeared in several different colors (currently forest green). The A’s are sometimes, though infrequently, referred to as the Elephants or White Elephants.

The elephant was retired as team mascot in 1963 by then-owner Charles O. Finley in favor of a Missouri mule. In 1986, the elephant was restored as the symbol of the Athletics and currently adorns the left sleeve of home and road uniforms. In 1997, the elephant came to life for the first time in the form of a mascot, Stomper.

Very kool, thanks for the info

Len talking about how excited Guzman is to be here and then show him looking like an inmate in the pen.

And Mad Dog walks Eckstein after having an 0-2 count. That's the Cubs.

CUBS are 3-0 when they hit a triple..... 6-7 when they don't.

Go CUBS !!!

Whats their record when they hit a triple with less then 2 outs and don't score.

God, now Maddux is going to start walking people. What did the Cubs do to deserve this? Ever?

Question. On Barretts DP ball, if Walker had kept running and let the ball hit him can the umps assume the DP and call two people out or would it have been bases loaded and two outs?
