When have we ever seen the Cubs among the top 5 in the league in stolen bases? Before the season, I wasn't sure Dusty would take advantage of the new speed we have, but I've been proven wrong. Let's hope we keep it going.

And, Dusty seems a bit too gung-ho with the whole "hey! I have speed now!" thing. Like sending Aramis. That is NEVER, under any circumstances, a good idea. And he did it TWICE in the Dodger series (okay, once was on a 3-2 count, so I can't fault him TOO much for that one - but there was only one out).

Actually, wasn't it 3 times? 2 successful and 1 caught?

EDIT: Maybe not. I thought I remember him running two other times besides when he got caught.

Don Zimmer pulled a hit-and-run twice with the bases loaded. You wouldn't think that was a good idea either, but we were successful both times. (never mind the fact that Grace was at the plate and contact was almost a guarantee)

What was the count when he got thrown out? If there was a full count, it's not really a bad move. Opens up a big hole in the defense and the chances of Mabry making contact or getting walked was pretty good. If Mabry shoots one through the hole on the right side and Ramirez goes to third, everyone would think its a good move. I'm sorry, but I can't blame Dusty for being aggressive.

If there were less than 3 balls, then it was probably not a very good move to make.

They were both hit and runs. Blame the hitters for not making contact on hittable pitches.

It's pretty much always a bad idea to run with Aramis.

Agreed. I have no problem with the situations when he hit and run. Aramis is a good double play candidate because of his speed, and Jones wasn't hitting too far behind him, and Jones has been hitting a ton of balls on the ground. Mabry hits alot of ground balls too, if I'm not mistaken. Sending Aramis reduces the chance of DPs and opens bigger holes in the infield.
