OK, this is my first posting here. I hope that it comes through legibly. After 9 months of Cubs.com, I have simply been sickened by the poor moderation of that forum. A member over here recommended this site. The Cubs will continue playing the small ball without having the power that you mentioned. Dusty has effectively used part of the WS playbook up until this point of season. If we are able to continue the recent pitching productivity and manufacture some runs, we will do just fine this weekend. We still match-up well with the Cards despite injuries.

Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here! I look forward to your contributions here at the site!

Interesting lineup. Pretty much what I expected, not bad considering the options Dusty has. Not a whole lot of power in that lineup, let's hope they can just get on base and drive each other in.

I kind of like that lineup, given the situation. Some nice speed and contact in there. Essentially we trade DLee's bat for Hairy's -- not a good trade but Hairy does add some things to the mix. It's not a total disaster.

It's interesting to compare lineups. The Cards obviously have an amazing 3-5. But the rest of their lineup sucks. The Cubs on the other hand have only one big threat (Ramirez), but there are no easy outs.

Over/under 10 Derrek Lee injury mentions.

By Len and Bob? UNDER. It has to happen DURING the telecast right? I'll take under. They will mention it to start, and slip it in there during play by play a few times. But deffinatly UNDER, 10.

Yeah good point. It's still devistating to not have Lee. (just seing him in the dugout would put a smile on my face). . But I'd take our LF, RF, C, and 2B over the Cards anytime! And our SS and 3B match up with theirs pretty well!

I think over. There'll be plays that occur that Lee would make differently, and then there's the Lee spot in the batting line-up.

I like this lineup. If Dusty throws this out there 90% of the time until Lee returns, I'll take it.

Seconded. Apart from having Walker bat second and Murt third, this lineup gives us the best chance to stay afloat.

Although, I don't have a problem with keeping Murt seventh to keep pressure off him. I have to admit, Dusty is impressing me this year with an amazing lack of completely brainless moves.

Right there with you. I'm hoping that we see Hairston more often than not.

If the pitching is good, we'll have a chance with this lineup.

Mulder vs. LH batters in 2005: .201 .283 .317

Jacque Jones has no business being in this game as long as there's another Cubs outfielder who can walk and breathe.

Not tonight. Mulder vs. Jones is the Mother of All Crappy Matchups.

Dusty is playing the most ideal lineup possible IMO.

I'm not a Neifi fan, but a much better lineup would have Neifi at 2B and Hairston in RF and Jones on the bench for PH duty late. Mulder vs. Jones is an absolutely hideous matchup that puts an offensive black hole at RF.

The thing is though, JJ has seemed to be getting his swing going. I know he sucks vs. lefties, but maybe he's turning it around.
