I think it's pretty safe to say that everyone who thought the Cubs' pitching could keep them afloat are pretty double-whammied tonight between Jerome, the Aardvark and the Wood news.

What happened to Wood?

Twinge in the shoulder down in extended spring training.

Where did you hear shoulder? Len said "under the right arm", which definitely isn't the shoulder. Did you hear something else?

However, Wood ended his bullpen session on Thursday early because of some tightness on his right side under his arm, but Rothschild said he didn't think the problem was too serious.

Rothschild said the Cubs took a cautious approach when Wood complained of the problem while warming up. The right-hander, who also is rehabbing in Mesa, was to face some Minor League players.

"He didn't feel all the way right with it," Rothschild said. "He thought it would be better not to throw in the game after he got warmed up.

"If he pulls something, even though it's not the spot where we're concentrating on, it could set him back too far," Rothschild said. "We probably did the right thing."

Aardsma has good fastball. Could use a little more control, i know he's walked 3 batters in majors but im not sure if i would say he's wild yet. The knuckle curve is a good pitch. I dont know if he throws them for strikes though. Its a good out pitch but he needs to throw them for more strikes frequently. This is my 1 inning assessment. haha.

I think the Reds are better than us now.

Alright it's close. But it wasn't before we lost Lee. This is a lower-tier ballclub now.

Oh how I missed you, check bunt

It's not like the Cubs are the only team that does it. You see it all the time.

Moises Alou reference specifically

Wow, it's been a while since we had a team that wasn't even expected to be any good. Last time I simply had no expectations was 2002. I'd forgotten what it was like. :(

Fearless prediction: JJ doesn't get a hit tonight against Mulder.

That's not fearless. There's a ludicrously good chance you'll be right.
