While driving to work this morning, I heard Mark Cuban on ESPN Radio. When asked if he would be interested in owning any Major League Baseball teams, he responded without hesitation, "The Cubs." I have heard in the past that he may be interested, but if the team does go up for sale at any point in the near future it sounds like he may be at the top of the list. Drop Tribune stock drop...

Sell the Cubs. Sell the Cubs. Sell the Cubs. Cuban is a billionaire. I would enjoy seeing him as our owner. He's into it. I'm surprised he's not making a bid to buy the Nationals

Wow he actually said them by name huh? That's pretty awesome! You know what show that was on? I'd like to see if they have the clip available online.

I believe it was Mike & Mike. I'm trying to remember for sure whether I heard it on the way to work in the morning, or whether it was over lunch... so it's possible that it was Dan Patrick, but I think it was Mike & Mike.

Correction - I now remember it was definitely over lunch so it was Dan Patrick.

I do believe that there has been talk of Cuban interested in buying the Cubs in the past as well. I'd love to see what he could do with this organization, the only thing I'd worry about is if he'd try to modernize Wrigley too much with a bunch of advertising and the like.

Right. I don't think anything would happen unless the Cubs were to first announce that the team is for sale. At that point it sounds like Mark Cuban could definitely get involved... that is if it ever gets to that point.

See I doubt they would "announce" that...I think they may just quietly shop around. Perhaps Cuban gets the sense that's gonna happen and this is him getting his name out there?

Or maybe Cuban is trying to create a false market and lure the Tribune into trying to sell the Cubs. Once they figure out that the market isn't as big as they thought it was, Cuban will swoop in and buy the Cubs.

Gotta sweet talk Cuban's wife. He said in an earlier interview that if he bought a baseball team, his wife would divorce him.

Mark Cuban would be a god in Chicago. He's all about ego, and what bigger ego trip would it be to end the Cub drought?

He'd kill for that spotlight. That might be the biggest "high" left in sports.

Im just saying hes a smart owner and will know what the team needs to win. If we have to overpay for someone that will help the team I think he would do it.

Overpay? Most certainly not. Cut the purse strings? Definitely.

I'm personally pretty happy that Hendry didn't overpay for Furcal and stayed with Cedeno.

I've heard Cuban mention numerous times previously that there's no way his wife would allow him to purchase another team. I've also heard him mention the Pirates as a team he'd like to own.
