Hendry says Jones will be ready to go today. Bynum will get alot of time in the next 2-3 weeks(I noticed last night that Bynum has a hitch with his right foot in his swing. He lifts it up when the ball is on it's way.) Will make move on player from AAA after today's game, because AAA team is in Texas. Would prefer Pie to get his at-bats, but wouldn't rule him coming up. Pagan will be gone at least 2-3 weeks for now. Concern is the knee.

Says Aramis was talked to about dogging it out of the batter's box on the double last night. ARAM won't do it again. Says Zambrano will have to work out his own situation. Mentioned Maddux has been talking to Carlos behind the scene. Still backs Rusch in starting rotation, today's start is big though.

I wonder if he talked to Bynum about dogging it in RF. :x

I'm glad Aramis was talked to. Play the game the right way.

Thanks for the recap. :D

Len said last night he is a CF and 2nd baseman(yet another one). He didn't seem too confident on the shot off the scoreboard. This idea of inter-changeable parts for all OF positions is wrong. It takes different skills.

True, but you can only afford dedicated fielders for left, center, and right in your starting lineup. Since you only have a few bench bats/gloves to go around, you need them to be able to play multiple positions. That means the ideal bench OF'er will be able to play at least 2 OF positions...

Why would we give Bynum much more time in the next 2-3 weeks? Is it his anemic history, his current futility, or his lack of hustle that puts him over the edge?

So fans will stop booing Jones once they see what Bynum can do on a day-to-day basis.

I don't mind giving Bynum some extended playing time the next couple weeks. He had a decent spring, and wouldn't it be better to have him prove/disprove that he's valuable rather than wasting a bench spot on him the entire year, and look back and realize he gave us nothing (a la Macias). If he continues to not hit, and generally play poorly, then at least we know, and can dispose of him.

I would rather find out in April whether or not he can play so then we can figure out what to do with him. If he hits, great. If he doesn't, let him go.

is mabry still on the team? why the hell would bynum play over him? it's gotta be that speed!

mabry was still feeling the effects of the casey collision. he was available to pinch hit, but that's all.

Didn't Aram stand and admire his two run shot today?

To me that's a touch different than the first incident. The first time it was a line drive, the second one was a high fly ball that was pretty much caught if it didn't get out. He should run regardless, but there's a difference.

Exactly my point. Just more concise, heh.

But this is the Cubs. It don't matter if certain players don't hit in April, they'd be kept ANYWAYS. Don't believe reread threads concerning Nefti Perez, Jose Macias, Augie Ojeda, Delino Deshields, and the list goes on. It's safe to say that Bynum stays with the Cubs past April, regardless if he hits or not. The only way he isn't on the roster after April, is if he is injuried.
