Rusch is going to become this year's Sean Estes. He's going to make 4 absolutely horrible starts, but then, when his job is on the line like it apparently was today, he'll come up with something borderline acceptable and get a win, keeping his job.

Man I hope not the rest of the division isn't as bad as it was in 03 so I don't think that will get it done. If he tanks he needs to be out.

Rusch wasn't borderline acceptable. Up until the inning with the homerun, he was downright masterful with his control.

He's tough to figure out. He really pitched well yesterday.

It looks as if Wood will be the first one back, who will he replace? Will they put Williams back in the pen and send Aardsma down? Or will Marshall get sent down? What about when Prior and Miller come off the DL? Will the starting rotation eventually be Z, Maddux, Wood, Prior, Miller? Then what do you do with all of these pitchers? What I mean is, by June (hopefully) what will the Cubs pitching staff look like?

my guess is that Marshall would go down as they would rather he continue to get starts than waste away in the pen as a loogy

As I've said before there are a couple of options when Wood returns.

1. If the Cubs want to bump Rusch or Williams for the rotation, then either Novoa or Aardsma will be sent down and Rusch or Williams goes to the pen.

2. If the Cubs want to bump Marshall from the rotation, then he'll go to Iowa to get his starts.

The Wood decision isn't the tough one. It will get tough when Prior/Miller return, as not only will we have a cramped rotation, the Cubs will have issues with the 25-man roster in regard to waivers as well.

The staff may look something like this:

Z

Maddux

Wood

Prior

Miller

Dempster

Howry

Eyre

Williamson

Ohman

Rusch

I think the rest still have options and can be sent down. This configuration

is under the assumption everyone remains healthy. If everyone remains healthy, I think Hendry will have some very valuable trading chips come the deadline.

I think it will go that way too if all goes well and maybe Novoa if Baker keeps 12. I just don't think the Cubs will be hitting on all cylinders like that though and at least one of the young guys will be up and in the rotation for the year.

There must have been some sort of gun malfunction but I'm pretty sure I saw Rusch hit 94 yesterday.

Dyslexia?
