its the biggest mystery in the Twin Cities today

did you see him finish off the A's yesterday? holy schmokes....why cant we develop a lefty like that?

The Twins didn't develop him. They got him in one of the craziest trades in recent memory.

AJ Piereziskizvivasizki

for

Joe Nathan, Liriano and Boof Bonser

And then the Giants gave up AJ for nothing.

Ouch.

I was making nearly an identical statement back in '03 about a young Twins fireballing lefty who was shut out of the rotation in favor of Kenny Rogers.

I think you might wanna do some research, perhaps? maybe a little scouting "from the gut" style?

I tell you what Tim, just for you, I'll send you Luis Gonzalez if you throw in Ian Stewart with Liriano.

Well, if I needed a LF to win a championship this year, I just might do that.

my team sucks this year. next year we'll dominate. seriously, my team does not score any points - and its not just the leftfielder!

With your infield and your pitching, you should be scoring a ton if you had a decent OF.

my RK team is much better actually. at least on offense. So far howard and fielder haven't been consistent, crosby has been hurt and utley mediocre. the pitching has been awful.

Perhaps because Baker is capable of 7 IP, 1R, 1ER, 3H, 1 BB, 4K against the NY Yankees. This just in.... apparently Baker is pretty good himself. To bad I had no confidence in him and had him sitting on the bench vs the Yankees, I wont make that mistake again.

heh, next time he'll get rocked! Utley 17 points today in half a game. rest of team 16.75

I did get an 18 point game from Schilling today, man he's just flat out dominating. Kazmir also did pretty well. I made a couple of mistakes with my bench today, had like 30 points sitting on my bench.

Jayson Stark on Liriano.

But a scout who has watched the Twins this year disputes that best-stuff-in-the-league title for Harden -- because Twins rookie Pedro Liriano is now part of that same league. "There's nobody in the league -- period -- with his kind of stuff," the scout said. "His fastball is 94-98, with an 88-91 [mph] slider and a 70 [mph] changeup. He's got better stuff than [Johan] Santana -- and it's not close. Now obviously, there are other factors [in becoming a pitcher]. But for pure stuff, there's nobody better." So how long can the Twins keep Liriano out of the rotation? Not for six months. We'd bet on that.
